Dolores “Brenda” “Dee” (Brendel) Litch
Monterey County Herald (online ed.), CA June 4, 2008
May 13, 1926 ~ June 1, 2008 PACIFIC GROVE, CA - Dolores E. (Brendel)
Litch, age 82, died peacefully on June 1, 2008 after a long illness.
Her two sons, Don J. Fry Jr. of Pacific Grove and Stephen L. Fry of
Phoenix, AZ, were at her side. She is also survived by her two
grandchildren: Amber Decker (husband, Brad) and Travis Fry, both of
Arizona; and, one great grandchild: Gabriel Decker. Dolores
graduated from Pacific Grove High School in 1944 and along with her
husband, Don J. Fry Sr. (and with others), was instrumental in the
reactivation of what we know today as The Pacific Grove High School
Alumni Association. Her services in numerous areas, most noted, were
Membership Co-Chair and Records. Dee (affectionately called)
remembered recently her younger years growing up as a pharmacist's
daughter to John (Jack) Brendel (mother, Val) on the second floor of a
downtown Pacific Grove building. She also remembered going to the
Asilomar Beach Track to volunteer as an enemy plane spotter for the
U.S. Government during the war. She later caught the eye of the son of
local golf pro, Fred X. Fry. His son, Don Sr. and Dee were married in
1948. Widowed in 1967, she later married Calvin M. Litch. Widowed
again, Dee's fond memories and stories of both Don Sr. and Cal have
been shared around the dinner tables of family and friends for years.
Her tireless efforts for the different groups and organizations she
belonged to will be missed including: ladies golf handicap and
tournament committees, Pandango's Dance Club, Pacific Grove High
School Alumni Association, and others too many to list. A Memorial
Service is planed at graveside by Rev. Charles Davis of the Pacific
Grove First Church of God at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 6, 2008 at the El
Carmelo Cemetery in Pacific Grove, located next to the Pacific Grove
Golf Links. Donations "In Memory of Dolores (Brendel) Litch" are
suggested to: The Pacific Grove High School Alumni Association, P.O.
Box 51396, Pacific Grove, CA 93950, a non-profit organization whose
main goal is the support of Pacific Grove High School, an organization
that Dee served for the past 46 years.

Christopher Agorastos Jr. Killed in Hawaii Car Crash
A former Pacific Grove High School student and varsity athlete was
killed in a three-car accident in Hawaii Wednesday night that also
took the life of a 16-year-old girl and injured six others.
Christopher Agorastos Jr., 18, was pronounced dead early Thursday
morning following the accident that occurred at 10:45 p.m. Hawaii time
on the Hawaii Belt Road, according to Hilo, Hawaii, police. A
passenger in the car with him, Gambelle Brown, 16, was also pronounced
dead at the hospital, police said, and the six injured, including the
driver of one of the other cars, two passengers in Agorastos’ car and
three other passengers, were treated and released. Police said Miss
Brown was ejected from the vehicle on impact and Agorastos was pinned
underneath the car when it overturned. Born July 30, 1969, in
California, he attended Pacific Grove High School for four years,
graduating in June, and had played football in his freshman, sophomore
and senior years, and varsity basketball all four years. He was a
student at Hawaii Preparatory Academy in Waimea, Hawaii, at the time
of his death. News of the accident came as a shock to students at his
old high school, many of whom remembered him well. Teachers, coaches
and counselors described him as a popular student and a good athlete.
Pacific Grove Middle School principal Mike Ottmar, who was athletic
director at P.G. High last year, said he was “a leader” among
students, “popular, involved, an athlete.” Student Holly Simon said he
was “a very caring person; his friends and everybody came before him.
The whole school practically knew him, and the news turned the school
upside down for a couple of days. It hurt a lot of people.” Marnie
Kelly, a junior at the high school, said he had gone to Hawaii because
the University of Hawaii had accepted him for his ability at
basketball. He had also talked of someday working with his father, an
electrical contractor, Miss Kelly said. “he was very fun to be with,”
she said, “always the life of the party. The whole school kind of
looked up to him as a big brother. He was well liked by a lot of
people.” While he was a good skier and played varsity football, “he
really loved basketball,” she said. Christopher is survived by his
father, Christopher, and two brothers, Nick and Jock, all of Kamuela,
Hawaii, his mother, Susan Moldenhauer, and sister, Kirsten Ann, both
of Pacific Grove, his paternal grandmother, Marjorie, and his maternal
grandfather, Manuel Sequeira of Pacific Grove. Memorial services are
to be held today at 10 a.m. Hawaii time at the Upper Campus Chapel of
Hawaii Preparatory Academy. Students at P.G. High observed a period of
silence in his memory.
