Peninsulan Dies in Playa del Rey
A 23-year-old Pebble Beach man, currently a student at Loyola-Marymount
University, died Monday [Feb. 2] in Playa del Rey, the Los Angeles
County coroner's office reported. The cause of death of Dana
Christopher Brunn was suicide, said a spokesperson for the coroner. He
was a senior at Loyola-Marymount and was to graduate this year. Mr.
Brunn was born in Fullerton on June 1, 1963, and attended Peninsula
schools. He graduated in the top 10 percent of his class at Pacific
Grove High School in 1982 and played on the soccer team as a freshman.
Survivors include his father, Darrell Brunn Sr. of Pebble Beach; his
mother, Helen Brunn of Santa Ana; a brother, Darrell Jr. of Anaheim;
and his grandparents, Alex and Pauline Brunn of Anaheim. Mass of
Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today at St. Boniface
Catholic Church in Anaheim. Burial will be at Anaheim Cemetery with
Hilgenfeld Mortuary of Anaheim in charge of arrangements. The family
suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society.

Kevin Patrick "Curly" Currall, 36, a designer, died Sunday while on
vacation in Rosarita Beach, Mexico. He was born Aug. 2, 1964, in
Monterey and was a lifelong resident of the Monterey Peninsula. Mr.
Currall graduated from Pacific Grove High School in 1982 and the
University of the Pacific in 1986. He was a designer with Robert
Talbott for the past 15 years. Mr. Currall was a member of San Carlos
Cathedral and the Archania Fraternity. He enjoyed all types of music,
and attending concerts. His hobbies included travelling, trivia games
and watching "Jeopardy" and "The Simpsons." Mr. Currall was an
amateur photographer and a movie buff. He is survived by his parents,
Alvina Currall of Pacific Grove and Ed and Shari Currall of Yucca
Valley; one sister, Kathy Bruno of Stockton; one brother, Ed Currall of
Lacey, Wash.; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at The Paul Mortuary.
Vigil services will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary chapel.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday at San Carlos
Cathedral, with entombment to follow in the San Carlos Cemetery. The
family suggests that any memorial contributions be sent to the Juvenile
Diabetes Association, 1475 S. Bascom, Campbell 95008.

Isabella Mary (Isabelle) Giacalone, 35, died peacefully at her home in
Monterey on Tuesday morning following a long courageous battle with
cancer. Isabelle was born December 24, 1964 at Community Hospital of
the Monterey Peninsula and was a lifetime resident of the Monterey
Peninsula. She graduated from Pacific Grove High School, M.P.C., and
attended Chico State University. She was supervisor for a Software
Development Quality Assurance group at CTB/McGraw-Hill, where she had
worked for 15 years. Isabelle was a devoted mother, wife, daughter, and
sister and loved nothing more than being with her family. She enjoyed
attending her sons' sports activities, camping and boating with her
extending family and friends. Isabelle is survived by her husband,
Anthony; her sons, Thomas and Derek; her parents, Dan and Jean McKay of
Del Rey Oaks; and her brother, Danny McKay of Salinas. She is also
survived by her aunt and uncle in Scotland, and several cousins in
Scotland, England, Canada and Texas. Over the past two years Isabelle
received wonderful support from her "sisters" in the Breast Cancer
Support Group, and most recently, from her Hospice team. Her quiet
courage and dignity during her illness was an inspiration to all who
touched her life. At Isabelle's request, a "celebration of her
life" will be held on Friday at 4 p.m. at the Community Church of the
Monterey Peninsula at Rancho Canada, Carmel Valley. Mass will be
celebrated Friday at 9 a.m. at San Carlos Cathedral with burial to
follow at San Carlos Cemetery. Paul Mortuary is in charge of funeral
arrangements. The family suggests that any memorial contributions be
