1971 (t) David Restovich (50)
Monterey County Herald, CA June 8, July 21, 2003 pB7, B5
David Restovich May 6, 1953-May 9, 2003 David passed away May 9th,
2003, three days after his 50th birthday following a long and very
courageous battle with cancer. David never walked away from a fight and
his battle with cancer was no different. He fought for life every day,
through every treatment, and with his very last breath. David grew up
in Pacific Grove moved to Santa Cruz in 1970 and considered Fresno his
second home. His interest in high-end stereo equipment took him to
Fresno and earned him a reputation as a visionary. He was the driving
force behind Economy Office Furniture in Fresno for over 20 years,
being involved in every aspect of office design. David was involved
with several civic organizations in Fresno and is perhaps best known
for his wonderful radio voice and television presence. He looked
forward to Clovis Big Hat Days so he could judge the chili cook-off.
David loved good food and delighted in taking his wife and stepdaughter
to out of the way places he swore by. He always loved finding the best
local spots because they had the best food. Ambiance wasn't always
important but excellent food was. David was heavily involved in the
police department for Parlier and loved going on patrol with his
beloved dog Hammer. The two of them were truly a force to be reckoned
with as any unfortunate criminal could attest. David was an excellent
marksman and could shoot a wasp's nest off a rafter at 50 paces.
David met the love of hs life over 15 years ago and as with most fairy
tales, it took them that long to make things work. Lynda joined David
in Seattle in 2001 and together with her daughter Ashleigh they made up
the family they had always hoped and longed for. David delighted in
taking Ashleigh to taco trucks and out of the way dives in Seattle to
introduce her to exotic food and drink. And being true to his
10-year-old heart, a spit wad fight broke out every time they all went
out for dinner. David died at home, in the arms of his beloved wife
Lynda, surrounded by his dear friend Don Ostergard and the
mother-in-law he adored. He is very sorely missed every day. Those who
truly knew David found him to be a man of passion, a man with a huge
heart, a devotion to his wife Lynda, step-daughter Ashleigh and his
closest friends. Memorial services for David will be held Saturday,
June 14, 2003 at Redwood Glenn in Woodward Park in Fresno at 10 a.m.
Please join Lynda, Ashleigh and all of his friends for a genuine
celebration of David's life. Contact lifelong friend Scott Bray at
633-6330 for more information.

his early days in Issaquah, WA, on patrol to his work with the Merced
County Narcotics Task Force and continuing with the Parlier force until
he left the Fresno area in 2000. David died at home, surrounded by his
