William Woodrow Austin II (Woody) passed on to return to God at his home on June 23, 2015, after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born to Roberta Marie Pedroni and William Woodrow Austin I on Aug. 12, 1946, in Salisbury, N.C. Woody attended and graduated from high school in Pacific Grove. He enlisted and served in the Marines and received an Honorable Discharge. Woody was sealed to Christine Roberts and they have three daughters, Stefani Bender (John), Jodee Cook, and Amanda Tratnik (Mike). Woody and Christine have 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Roberta Marie Pedroni; his father, William Woodrow Austin; his son, William Woodrow Austin III; and his brother, Steven Charles Austin. Woody served and retired as a California correctional officer. He loved cars, motorcycles, horses and Roper his dog. He often expressed his love for his grandfather, and he loved his Native American roots. He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He often spoke of the peace he found in Priesthood Service, and Worship in the Church chapel. An interment memorial service will be held on Friday, July 3, 2015 at 8 a.m. at the Bakersfield National Cemetery. Wood Family Funeral Service, Inc. was entrusted with his care.
