James John Shiffer Sr. was born Oct. 4, 1917 to John and Faustina Shiffer. He went to our Lord Jesus on Oct. 23, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Minnie Shiffer of Lake Isabella; daughters Mary Lou and husband Bob Camacho of San Francisco, Doris Carolyn and husband Charles Turner of Bodfish, Barbara Jean and husband Don Mendoza of Pacifica; Shirley Ann and husband Bill Aviles of Mill Valley, and Constance Darlene and husband Bill Stewart of Garden Grove; son James John Shiffer Jr. and wife Linda of Glendale, Ariz.; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Weldon Southern Baptist Church, served in the Army during World War II, was a longtime member of the American Legion, and retired from Owens Illinois Glass in Vernon, Calif. in 1980 with over 30 years of employment. Jim and Minnie moved from Camp Verde, Ariz. to Lake Isabella in 1996. Arrangements were made with Valley Mortuary in Lake Isabella. Services were conducted by Pastor Bill Lewis at Weldon Southern Baptist Church, Oct. 26, 2002. Jim is loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
