In previous iOS versions I've able to open a URL of the form "itms-apps://itunes.apple.com/artist/id463855590" and the App Store app would open at a page showing all my apps. This doesn't seem to work in iOS 12. I see a "Cannot Connect to AppStore" error message within the App Store app.

hacknicity, yes, I have the "id" letters prefixed to the developer ID numbers. I just edited my response to make it more clear. And for me to get it to work in iOS 12.1, I changed "itunes.apple.com" to "geo.itunes.apple.com", so I'm confident the rest of the URL is good.

Apple's own link maker ( ) generates URLs of the second form (except it outputs "https" instead of "itms-apps", but I'm not sure why they seem to prefer both developer name and developer ID. Maybe a single developer can have multiple IDs in some cases?

I know that the URLs can sometimes have a country code and/or an app or developer name, but they aren't required. I think they make the URL more human readable, but for an in-app link that isn't important.

Just to follow-up to my post: Apple responded to my case I opened with them. They confirmed that there is no official documentation regarding the itms-apps URL scheme, and that there is no guarantee about engineering side changes. But they suggested I use the format itms-apps://itunes.apple.com//developer//id. The is the code that matches the developer's apple ID registration. For the United States, for example, it's "us". I confirmed this also works with iOS 12.1.

I wish Apple would officially document the itms-apps URL scheme since it's very useful for developers to be able to link to all our apps in the App Store directly from within our apps in a supported way, without worrying about Apple breaking the scheme in an iOS update.

I've noticed recently that this URL format no longer works. I suspect it's related to an issue on the App Store itself, given that when I type my company name, one of the auto-complete suggestions says "in developers" after it. Clicking this, and then my company listing, results in "Cannot Connect to App Store".

Guys this is just more something I wanted to share. I was searching forums back late last year when I noticed an issue where iTunes would just not play sound anymore. It was working fine after my Windows 10 upgrade and then just out of nowhere I could not get sound to play in iTunes. Checked and made sure all volume sliders were up and ran through my playback devices in sound to make sure it was not playing on the wrong device. Sound was working fine on everything else except iTunes. I uninstalled and re-installed iTunes 1 or 2 times as new versions came out in case it was some kind of Windows 10 issue with iTunes but it never fixed it. Finally today while I was going through a forum I noticed someone post about disabling the Sound Enhancer but it was already disabled. But I noticed another setting on the same page. The Play Audio Using: Section was set to Windows Audio Session. I changed it to Direct Sound and tada I can hear sound in iTunes again. This may work on older operating system versions to. Windows 10 was just what I was using.

3. You should see the ITunes app/icon to the right of that, there s a drop down box labelled Output which I think lists the different sound cards installed in your conputer, I selected default and the sound came through straight away loud and clear as before.

In iTunes use Edit > Preferences > Playback and look at the entry for Play Audio Using. This will normally be set to either Direct Sound or Windows Audio Session. Changing the setting may help. If not change back to the original value and try once more. Failing that see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates and in particular the second box for a full tear down and rebuild.

Use Edit > Preferences > Playback and look at the entry for Play Audio Using. This will normally be set to either Direct Sound or Windows Audio Session. Changing to the other setting may help. If not set back to the first option and apply once more.

Hi, I'm trying to connect an amp & speakers to my pc running on windows 10 although no sound comes out, when i plug the jack cable into my iPad or iPhone it works ok, although noticed just to the left of the left of the song on my pc there's an icon missing, that i click on my iPad to select which speakers to use? Anyone know how i can get that icon back on my iTunes? The icon i am referring to is just below the play button..

Omg, you have no idea how long I searched for a solution to this problem. I uninstalled several times, removed my library folders and eventually gave up for a bit. And it was this simple all along. I feel like I should send you a gift card or something for saving my sanity.

Thank you, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!! Yes, You deserve a cookie and maybe even some ice cream cake. This has been driving me crazy for a long time. I just deleted EVERY apple file from my computer and reinstalled iTunes and it still didn't work (driving absolutely batty). This did the trick. Yes, thank you kind sir!

Still a relevant answer, no idea why iTunes is weird because it worked for me yesterday afternoon and I have not updated or changed anything in the last 24 hours. Thank you so much, you've saved me quite a lot of aggravation.

I wanted so badly for this to solve my problem. however, I don't have an option for "Play Audio Using," I have only "Video Playback Option." and yesterday everything worked just fine. this is a bummer.

Thank you this totally worked. I had no sound with iTunes and websites after i updated Windows 10. I ran all the tests Microsoft told me to run with its assistant and none of them worked. This worked. Thank you so much!!!

Thank you! Just downloaded the latest itunes for a new work laptop with windows 10 and I was getting baffled because I could hear everything else except my icloud music library in itunes! thank you! It worked!

Interestingly I came across this option when trying to resolve a different sound issue. I was only getting sound from 2 of my 4 speakers (i.e. the front two). All the other applications I tried (i.e. Groove Music, Power Media Player, Windows Media Player, VLC and Real Player) worked fine with sound coming out of all 4 speakers. Changing Play Audio Using to Direct Sound in iTunes solved the problem.

If the symptoms do not match any of those described here, consult your dealer as it could be due to a fault in this unit. In this case, disconnect the power immediately and contact the store where you purchased this unit.

The protection circuit has been activated due to a rise in temperature within this unit. Turn the power off, wait about an hour until this unit cools down sufficiently, and then turn the power on again.

Check the speaker connections. The protection circuit may have been activated because speaker cable core wires came in contact with each other or a core wire was disconnected from the connector and came in contact with the rear panel of this unit. After unplugging the power cord, take corrective action such as firmly re-twisting the core wire or taking care of the connector, and then reconnect the wire.

A HEOS device on the same network is playing an input source from this unit. Stop playback on the HEOS device when turning this unit off (setting it to standby). The power of this unit will turn off automatically after around 20 minutes.

When using a 3D video device, the remote control unit of this unit may not function due to effects of infrared communications between units (such as TV and glasses for 3D viewing). In this case, adjust the direction of units with the 3D communications function and their distance to ensure they do not affect operations from the remote control unit of this unit.

The frequency band used by the wireless LAN is also used by microwave ovens, cordless telephones, wireless game controllers and other wireless LAN devices. Using such devices at the same time as this unit may cause sound to cut out due to electronic interference. Sound cut out can be improved using the following methods.
- Install devices that cause interference away from this unit.
- Turn off the power supply to devices that cause interference.
- Change the settings of the router channel to which this unit is connected to. (See the instruction manual of the wireless router for details on how to change the channel.)
- Switch to a wired LAN connection.

The video being played will not appear in the background of the menu when the menu is operated during playback of the following video signals.
- Some images of 3D video contents
- Computer resolution images (example: VGA)
- Video with an aspect ratio other than 16:9 or 4:3
- 4K video

The menu screen is only displayed on this unit and a TV connected with an HDMI cable. If this unit is connected to a TV using a different video output connector, operate while watching the display on this unit.

The status information will not appear on the TV when the following video signals are being played.
- Some images of 3D video content
- Computer resolution images (example: VGA)
- Video with an aspect ratio other than 16:9 or 4:3

Not all USB memory devices are guaranteed to work. Some USB memory devices are not recognized. When using a type of portable hard disc drive compatible with the USB connection that requires power from an AC adapter, use the AC adapter that came with the drive.
