For anyone who hasn't seen this - NSIM is getting rid of the grooves on the highway.  Certainly making me interested in skating it this year!

Smooth roads ahead: The Interstate is getting a new face!
The beautiful northshore is repaved and ready for some new wheels! To honor those who have had a bad experience with this road in the past, we would like to push the price increase back one more week!
Prices:

Full Inline $89, Elite $129
Half Inline $69
Combined Inline $109
Rollerski: $89

A special thank you to all the entities that made this happen; St. Louis County, Lake County, City of Duluth, and MnDOT. Over the past years they have repaved over 15 miles of our scenic course! If you know someone who didn't like the course before, let them know about this great news!
Register Now! Race Day: Sept. 17th, 2016
Last year the Northshore Inline Marathon received positive feedback for improvements made to the course. According to Duluth’s Assistant District Engineer Todd Campbell, “if you liked it last year, you’ll like it even more this year.” Contractors on the Highway 35 repaving project and MnDOT anticipate having the section of course from 26 Ave E to the Leif Erickson Tunnel completely repaved. This means no more grooves! The driving lanes and shoulders through the tunnels will also undergo surface repairs, fixing potholes and pavement cracks to make for a smooth skating experience. MnDOT will be providing the Northshore Inline Marathon with updates and photos as the project progresses.

Nice to know this new pavement. It was painful, especially the first year when it became the grove road. It was said a lot of skater in half marathon group fell that year (with raining?).
This new pavement will definitely make you faster. This is a downhill, normally we should accelerate to about 24 to 25 mph, but with those groves, we had to slow down to about 17mph or so.
