Good evening PRH Providers,
I am reaching out to further re-iterate the ketamine injection shortage. We are down to approximately 20 vials facility-wide. We have backorders out to receive more drug product, but it is unknown when we will receive these orders. It is possible that we run out of product entirely, but we are trying to avoid this. Please utilize alternative agents whenever possible in order to conserve ketamine for situations where other agents are not ideal for use.

Good afternoon,
Due to a national drug shortage the following medications are in critical supply at Portsmouth Regional Hospital:
Ketamine injection and Retacrit (epoetin alpha) injection
Plan of Action for ketamine:
· Consider utilization of alternative medications dependent on indication whenever possible.
Plan of Action for Retacrit (epoetin alpha):
· Reserve Retacrit (epoetin alpha) to be used at the lowest effective dose for the shortest necessary time period on patients who would benefit most. Shortage estimated to be temporary with resolution by August 2023.
