Busing is worked into the school budget, which therefore is part of OUR
tax money. Maybe if the SFASD had put the busing contract out for bid
the lower cost this year would absorb the fuel inflation cost, which is
not the responsibility of the SFASD.
I don't remember getting a credit on my taxes for when the price of
gas went down! Parents should not be responsible for any additional
monies for their children using the bus. We have already paid enough
in taxes. It's time that the school board shuffle their funds to cover
the cost of the rise in gas prices. They certainly found money for a
strings program and placemats. I already have many out of pocket
expenses for our "public school system." This year I need to buy gym
uniforms, clothing for the children's after school sports team with the
SF logo along with the regular binders, pencils, bookbag, etc.
