Hi everyone,

Hope you are having a great start to the week. I am reaching out because I am in need of some pinned bee samples from 2025 to do some tests in the lab. I have plenty in whirl paks, but only one box of pinned specimens.

I know the next big drop off is in November, but if anyone has any pinned and labeled bees, will be close to campus, and willing to drop some off, that would be greatly appreciated.

If you don't have any pinned bees, that is ok! I just wanted to see if anyone had any ready and would be near campus soon.

Thanks,
Sarah

Hi friends,

I’ve been checking out the Master Gardener hours associated with our bee monitoring group.  I know we probably haven’t been very specific on how you should log your hours – that’s on me.  But going into the future, if you would, please be specific on the activity you are doing when you log your hours.

We would like to know if you are doing field work, processing, teaching, etc.

Maybe y’all can suggest some standard topics that we can agree on so that we can all enter the same things?

Thanks and let me know your thoughts.

Val

Hi Val,

A few thoughts.  I generally differentiate between Collecting and Pinning/Processing.  You also mentioned teaching.  While I have probably 20 hours on teaching/prepping for classes on Native Bees this year, that time is under Creating, Updating and Giving Presentations and will not show up as related to the Bee Moniitoring Project..  I have also logged any presentation in the sheet provided by PA Bee Monitoring.
