Bee Monitoring MGs,

It is time for the first set of bee collection boxes to work their way up to Penn State's Entomology Department for identification and cataloging. 

Several educators are traveling to York County for an association meeting on June 13 and have agreed to bring boxes to this central gathering.   MGs, please get in touch with the educator in your county office (or closest office) to see if you can coordinate a box handoff.  The table below shows a potential MG/Extension Educator match. Several of you have multiple options on where you could drop off your collections.

Registration for this spring association meeting is a bit down this year, so finding good matches was a little tough. For example, we have no educators coming out of the northwest.  If this doesn't work for you (or the educator), please don't worry, as we have several other opportunities.

• July 19 - 21, numerous MG Coordinators and Horticulture Extension Educators are coming to Penn State - University Park for a training session.
• August 8-10, Penn State Educators (horticulture, dairy, MGs, family & consumer science, etc) will be coming to APD.  
• November 2023 - Penn State Extension Ag Educators get together for their annual meeting in State College

I hesitated to match you up on this as no one is coming out of the northeast.  The closest extension educator would be Dwane Miller out of Schyukill.  But I suppose if you are up for a scenic drive.    tom
