Hi Pippa,
now that we have a Big Blue Button server, it might be an idea to do the webcraft community call there? Both because I think it will be much better/easier to manage, and because it would introduce course organizers to a tool they could use in their own classes.

You can set up a new meeting here (for now - we'll probably set up permanent rooms etc in the future)
http://p2pu-bbb.osuosl.org/bigbluebutton/demo/create.jsp

It will also eventually be moved to bbb.p2pu.org.

That'd be great! I don't have a microphone at work but can type
questions/feedback. I have headphones so can listen just fine.

I would like clarification on a couple points. When you write, Pippa,
that the call is “this Thursaday”, you mean today, Jan 27th, right? So
I missed the call today at noon, correct? Is there somewhere that
notes are published? Finally, you should be aware that the iCal file I
downloaded from the site indicates the calls take place on FRIDAYS at
noon PST. I didn’t realize it was today since I got to the Google
Group rather late this time.

Thanks for mentioning this, Stian. I played around with a bit after I
saw your post. It seems like a very useful tool, and something I’m
looking for right now. Is it fully functional at this time, at least
for creating a meeting? Is the voice functionality implemented?

Hi Fergus,
yes it should be fully functional. See the beginning documentation here: http://wiki.p2pu.org/w/page/35515640/Other-P2PU-technologies

I've noticed the calendar is wrong too. There are notes from the call
here: http://pad.p2pu.org/webcraft

Hopefully we'll see you at the next meeting :)

Last night we used BBB in the Ruby class and I thought it was great.
Voice was fully implemented including the ability to mute people. ;) I
didn't see a way to increase the volume person by person though but I
might have missed that. There was a little lag when cycling through
windows and some in-and-out on the voice. However, I think it was very
useful and successful from the viewpoint of a student participant. I
really appreciate it being available!

Hi Jessica,

thanks so much for reporting back, I am really happy that this seems to be a useful tool! I am not sure if it is possible to increase volume by person, unfortunately.

The tool is also under rapid development, so we will be able to take advantage of improvements as they become available.

Thanks for the link, Jessica.

I’m hoping so also. It’s on my personal calendar now for the correct
date.

That’s awesome to hear. I’ve already decided that I will try it for
our course’s first meeting.
