Well, I think P25NX is on life support, not quite dead.  I think it's being used sometimes, but even my own connection to it is having issues and I can't listen as much as I used to.  It could be revived, but I dont have the necessary time to put into it anymore, unfortunately.

Is anyone still out there?

I think there's still interest, but since the Houston repeater went down I have no idea what the level of usage has been like.

V2 seemed like a good concept on paper but in practice seems to not be as stable as the basic V1 config with just the Cisco router. Our plan in Houston was to bring everything local (possibly regional) into an AstroTAC and pull a port off that for P25NX. I know other groups in other parts of the country are doing the same thing but again, I have no idea what the level of usage is like. Should V2 or the NX core go away completely I'd support a "system of systems" with basic STUN connections between AstroTACs.

It WAS stable, but didn’t scale as well as hoped.  I actually think it still could be very good, just need someone to really delve into and look at where the packets are being lost.

Dave,

We're still using it here in So Cal and want to add more machines.
Next month I WILL repair the broken Cisco on my highest level machine (Santiago Peak) and again provide wide coverage on 900.
Greg WB6ZSU and I have been trying to find a UHF pair / machine in the SoCal area to put P25NX on that I'm sure would help the usage.
Please don't give up on it.

I have a UHF machine with full set up I am willing to donate to the cause here in Cali.  I just, for the last 3 or 4 years, been unable to secure a site and/or a pair.  If you can get either or both, I will donate it...just let me know soon. I have listed it for sale.

Hi Dave,

I’ve been quiet as I am in Manila, Philippines. No P25 here at all and no equipment here so can’t help preach or evangelise P25.

So VK will start making noise again when I get back next week.

Working on 3 new 900 sites in MI and a uhf if I can find a combiner.  Also big multi site vhf hopefully coming.

Has it been considered to engage some help like maybe from the MMDVM or BrandMeister teams?  I know the are really interested in integration with p25nx which would really grow it fast.

Canada checking in. I think in Ontario, we've got 5 repeaters permanently connected.

Having a problem with the pnx-mono.exe program going offline every so often. Checking the pi shows it's no longer running. Going to see about a cron job to check if it's still running and restart it if necessary.

Hawaii is still online as well. From what I've been hearing lately, the
performance on P25nx has actually been consistently better than previous
months. Less packet loss and annoying looping, etc.

Charlotte, NC has been offline for quite some time due to lack of interest. I'm preparing to put it back on the network if for no one else locally but for me alone.  Still wishing for MMDVM bridging across both networks but unfortunately I am not the one to know how to accomplish that.

I've been double dipping on MMDVM P25 lately.

I helped motivate ka4ymy to get his machine back online in Charlotte, been working with VE3PPO in Ontario who is just about ready to deploy and I think I've convinced a guy in Wisconsin to get his v1 machine back online v2 as well...

We are quite quiet I agree...

I’ve been talking with some of the locals around Austin...  And we’ve wondered if the idea of moving back to the more stable v1 platform has been discussed...  And might not be a bad idea?

I know my machine, and others too, worked a lot better on simple v1 than it ever has on the Pi platform.

Are we really benefiting anything from the Pi platform?

It really wasn’t stable. The host app crashed all the time.  Additionally , it requires a central computer at a data center which costs money every month. And maybe the most important, it only worked on one talkgroup.    Better to use any available resources to patch v2 to address its issues.
