Has anyone had any luck using the APO Spextool for the P200 data?

I had a beta version of this from a *long* time ago and there was a directory called PalTripleSpectool which was very similar to the APOTriplespectool.  I changed the instrument file in Spectool2/data/ to refer to the Pal version but I get a crash on line 161 of mc_resdinstrfile

Any suggestions/tips?

Thanks,
Eilat

Hi,

The APO version will not work.

I have been reducing Palomar TSpec data for our WISE work with
Spextool but I just haven't had the time to sit down and make it ready
for general use. Unfortunately releasing a version (not only getting
it ready but fielding questions) won't help me get a job so it keeps
falling down my todo list. Apologies.

Thanks Mike for even having it on the list. You should hammer Shri for some pittance to support your valuable effort.

Tspec users; I am sad to announce that I am stepping down as senior support astronomer at Palomar. I am "selling out" for a cushy commercial sector job. I am happy to report that
Kevin Rykoski will be my replacement at the 200". Best of luck to you all.

Mike,

What's the difference between "general" use and use by experienced SpeXTool users like Eilat and myself?  Last time I saw the interface, it was perfectly usable...it was just that the sky subtraction wasn't quite working yet. Put another way, have you gotten all of the functionality to produce publishable spectra and it's just the interface that needs tweaking, or is the actual reduction code still under development?

Jeff,

Good luck with the new job! Unfortunately I can't take any additional
salary based on the rules of my fellowship.

Kelle,

It is a bit of both actually. You are correct that it basically works
as is so in principle I could let it go. I am still worried about the
BG subtraction and so that is why I am being lame. Also, once it gets
out there it is out there and I have to be responsible for it.

Hellow,

I just found out this Triplespec google group.
I used to work at Caltech and I took a few runs of Triplespec data using Palomar 200 inch telescope.
I crudely reduced the spectra soon after the observing runs. But now I want to take time to publish those data with careful data reduction.
I note there is Spextool3 available for Triplespec for Palomar telescope.
Can anyone let me know where I can get the tar file for Spextool3? I mailed a few people but did not hear from them yet. A REU student, Abigail Holmes, is working on this this summer with me.

I am glad to find out this google group.

If the version is not perfect, it is fine. I will need to modify some routines of idl programs for my usage. I could start from APO triplespextool version, but if you have one for Palomar version to start with, it will be helpful. Just let me know the known issues/bugs.

Jeonghee,

I sent you an email this morning regarding this and pointed you to a page by Babar Ali at Caltech who was the point person for the Palomar version. Did you not receive it?
