well i have been getting some very strange responses form the news server.

now i cant check email.

microsoft outlook responds

the connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop.ozemail.com.au',
Server: 'pop.ozemail.com.au', Protocol POP3, Port 110, secure(SSL): No,
Socket Error:10060, Error Number 0x800CCC0E

previously(half an hour ago) the mail server was not responding.

real good service, nothing in the outages notice section and i note that
there is still no web based network status section. hmm, that six to eight
weeks must be almost up by now. i am awaiting the new and improved version
of the page with baited breath. so how long do we give it before
discounting the responses many of us have got saying that the service will
return and giving up. really though as so many of us have it in writing it
would not be very good form for ozemail to start bullshitting to its
customers that much. anything to wring every last dollar out of the
shrinking customer base.

considering that ozemail have drooped the ball on broadband and almost all
of their competitors will be offering the service many months before
ozemail can even hope to start rolling out the new hardware. i doubt that
they will have many customers left at all and will make a good example to
use nit he IT press showing what happens when you put bean counters in
charge of an ISP. no vision, no forward network expansion plans, no long
term customers. i give ozemail domestic no more then another year before
they cease to be anything but a second rate small ISP with a few thousand
customers and a pitiful share price if they dont go bankrupt altogether
that is.

you can tell i am starting to get pissed off with all the small and
intermittent faults that ozemail/UUNET seem unwilling to fix.

good way to manage bandwidth problems, just starve the customers away,
after a while enough will have left for other ISP's and there will be
enough bandwidth again.
