This ride occurs every Tuesday and Thursday if weather permits. A little wind, or even a lot of wind, will not cancel this ride. Tornados will....
Ride starts at 6:00pm and goes about 2 hours (or until dark). Distance will vary, but plan on 40 miles or so.
Location is Minneha Elementary School which is located just north of the intersection of Webb Road and Central Avenue. Meet in the parking lot in front of the school.
Routes will typically be into the wind to begin and downwind to return. Our routes include going south to Mulvane and return, south to Rose Hill and circling around, north to Furley and return, and south/east to Augusta and return.
Everyone is invited and you're welcome to ride at your own pace. Usually we hang (pretty much) together going upwind, then it's everyone for themselves as the pace quickens on the return. Typical average for the ride is 20+ mph.
Group size can vary from 10 to 30+. We typically ride 2x2 on the way out, switching pulls every 1/2 mile or more. You can pull if you want to, or stay at the back and draft off the group. On the way back, the front pack will often work a paceline. If you're not comfortable riding in a group, this is a good place to learn how.
No cost for the ride, just show and go. If you're from out of town and looking for a salty ride, come along. We'd love to have you. If you're new to the area and looking for a group to get acquainted with, come along. We'd love to have some new friends.
