Any NFC gurus?

Hello OzBerry people. It's a bit of a long shot but I'm looking for someone who knows how NFC works.

We're trying to use an NFC for a data link, but hoping to avoid implementing a full NFC stack (we don't need to talk to anything but our own devices).

If you have some time for a phone call or to answer some questions via email it would be greatly appreciated.
