I received an Academia email alert this morning to a paper I might like …. It turned out to be this astonishing piece (attached and link below) from a Vesna Tenodi in an archaeological conspiracy-theory newsletter “the Pleistocene Coalition”. Bereft of facts, delusional, and please be warned, very offensive in a number of ways (e.g., to Aboriginal people and culture, to some distinguished archaeologists, and to Australian archaeology in general) . Thought people should be aware of it.

I can only say that I hope that the Pleistocene coalition has a vanishingly small readership and becomes deservedly extinct very soon. I am about to hit the Academia email’s “not a good recommendation?” button!

Is it possible to report papers on Academia to the publishers as racist and offensive, or even take Academia to a media tribunal of some sort to have them prosecuted?

Possibly, but isn't it best to leave such 'papers' unnoticed in the obscurity of Academia.

I cringe when thinking about the publicity that would be received if ever such a case went public.

In a word: “wow”!

Does anyone have any idea if the thoughts she ascribes to Mulvaney et al. are even close to reality? Or her claims about “Prehistory of Australia”, and especially the second edition?

I wonder how the Strongs feel about her entry into the world of conspiracy, and more particularly, about her Rajanes and Abrajanes being in competition with their Origenes as first peoples?

Does anyone know of any other “spiritual archaeologists”?

If anyone has downloaded any of her other sprays, can you post the PDFs on OzArch please?
Cheers, John

I thought the author’s name was familiar – she is being threatened with legal action over her repeated use of sacred imagery in artworks she commissions.

Thanks David for these URLs.

Now I no longer have to wonder what a “spiritual archaeologist” is ...

“She [Tenodi] did not respond to ABC Kimberley's request for comment, but explained her motivations in a 2011 interview.

‘They cannot understand that I am a medium and I talk with God,’ Ms Tenodi said at the time. ‘I get instructions from Wandjinas and I do what Wandjinas want.’”

All is explained in her blog - http://modrogorje.com/tag/pleistocene-coalition/

She must be legit since Andrew Bolt came to her defense. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQsGzxd9_D0

I notice that the University of Zagreb teaches archaeology as part of its Faculty of Philosophy and Religious Studies / Catholic Faculty of Theology / University Centre for Croatian Studies / Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences

Hi Neale,

Yes, I agreed, Vesna is spreading false information on archaeology of Australia including offensive opinions and she is quite racist.

I sent a comment back to Academia, noting that this was an inappropriate recommendation, and the reasons that I sated in my email below – suggested that their search-and-recommendation algorithm needed to be able to reject conspiracy-theorest, offensive twaddle.

Hi Neale,

Where have you been for the last nine years :-)

And what do you know about Bamabara, Kariong. Slater's Mound, or the origin of man ... or about woman? ... or the "Out of Australia Theory" .. that 'challenges' Out of Africa?

Cheers, John

Neale, well done.

You really should have recommended they employ some humans who can tell the difference between fact and fantasy.

I often find this sort of fringe lunacy entertaining, like it’s the plot of a bad “Curse of the Mummy” or “Invasion by Aliens” TV series

My brother takes no end of delight in presenting me with pseudo archaeology presented as fact that he’s found on you tube,

I’m never sure if he really believes it or he’s just trying to get a reaction.

But, I’m sure that at the next party I’m at, someone will have seen this, or something like it, and will tell me you experts have it all wrong.

If I cant given some sort of rebuttal then what sort of archaeologist would I be.

We need to be able to counter such rubbish with facts.

Like the actual evidence for the oft cited 60,000 thousand years of occupation of Sahul.

“more work needs to be done”

Hello,

Re "‘I get instructions from Wandjinas and I do what Wandjinas want’”, this is different to most people.

You will find that Rosslyn Ross and Narelle Friar (recently mentioned in here) are avid supporters of Vesna Tenodi.

Aha,

Thanks Euroka.

So all is explained at last !?

Or becomes evident !

For I had been puzzling over that.

And I had thought I had asked before here what such harsh words I saw about those too women.

Nobody said anything at all then (or not that I saw).

Thus I guess if one has patience and one waits long enough it all comes out in the wash?

Or "All will be revealed" as someone famous I think once said.

Cheers, John

Things that I have seen posted by Vesna Tenodi, and reposted by rightly outraged Aboriginal people are stomach churning.

Recently she posted a photo of herself holding a skull, in a room filled with glass cases containing skeletal remains.

Her byline was that these elders (the skeletal remains) told her all one needed to know about the real Aboriginal past.

Hence, she had no need to consult with current Aboriginal people on their past- who were in any case imposters to the title of Australia's first people.

She contended that the first Australian people were a race of Pygmies who had been brutally wiped out by the current Aboriginal people of Australia.

I was a bit puzzled at her ability to consult Aboriginal elders, by Hamlet-like conversing with what was very clearly a caucasian skull in her hand. But perhaps her powers know no bounds and this skull may have been channelling across time and space.

For more to make your teeth gnash, have a look at her Facebook page:

Wanjina DreamRaisers WorldWide Club

I'm intrigued as to where the collection of skeletal remains is that Vesna seems to have very open (and ungloved) access to?

Cheers

Hello Michael,

Re "I was a bit puzzled at her ability to consult Aboriginal elders" have you heard about "Bambara" (which I understand is where the Strongs suspect the Origines  became the Orgines probably via  some genetic engineering from the Pleiades (Seven Sisters) ... for a lot of channelling goes on there regularly at intervals.

For example the speaking by Alcheringa the spirit of the Dreamtime, via Valerie .. one of the foremost mediums interested in that place.

There's books and books already on all this.   I can direct you to where, if interested.

Re "I'm intrigued as to where the collection of skeletal remains is that Vesna seems to have very open (and ungloved) access to?" ... possibly somewhere in Europe ??    Let us know if you find out. The Strongs by contrast state that they are MOST respectful of physical remains .. and they always wear gloves it seems.

Cheers, John
