Degree in Archaeology
Knowledge of the NPW act
Drivers Licence
White card
Fitness for manual labour (including digging)
Ability to identify Aboriginal stone artefacts
Projects are located throughout South West Sydney, The Southern Highlands and The Illawarra. Projects have already commenced and will be ongoing for the next 3 to 6 months. Suitable candidates with availability during this period are encouraged to apply.
Applications will also be considered from current students who are completing a degree in Archaeology and who would like to gain practical experience in Archaeological excavations.

I think as always (or almost always .. not sure that I agree with you yet that "geos have rocks in there heads" over the Big Birds theory of mounds in NW NSW) that you are ascute and perfectly correct in what you say.
Even I ...fast becoming one of the worlds un-fittest persons for walking giant distances or doing other heavy tasks .. like changing a tyre .... am perfectly capable of excavating facts and interesting data out of old texts at libraries or archives.
I am in fact looking for other who might be equally capable, and interested, to discuss formulating an attempt to seek for such via the next round of "My Community Project" funding.
Could be for anywhere but three areas I would suggest are:
1) Old black/s town area (Darug heartland)
2) Homebush Bay and surrounds
3) Botany Basin ( Kurnell, Randwick LGA, etc.)

Not sure why I'd need to be fit for manual labour if the job is just excavating in the archives for old texts.
