Ignoring this list... if you are looking for someone to fill a job
position at your company, where are you advertising the position?

We've pretty much tapped out the friends-of-employees route, so have
been using Seek for a while with some success, but it is a pretty hit
and miss process. From what I've heard from job-seekers Seek is full of
recruiters and so perhaps isn't used very much any more.

I know there's plenty of tech-oriented job boards around. Anyone want to
share any stories (successful or otherwise) ?

Or I guess conversely for those who have changed jobs recently, how did
you find your new position?

Regards
Nathan

I think you give seek too much credit. It is way more miss than hit. Typically you get lots of good resumes but when you interview you find that they could not code their way out of a wet paper bag. I tried the Joel on software jobs board but found that while the candidates are good there are very few in Australia. I have observed a lot of jobs related activity on Twitter:

I know a really good recruiter that I can recommend if anyone is interested, he is very technically savvy, he writes code, and is a hardcore geek and also is a big member of the rails community.

He will only send quality candidates that he has interviewed first.
