I was thinking of doing something similar in the new year for the Sydney group (Feb session).

 

For those who have been to one and participated how valuable did you find it? Interested to hear about experiences and how to make it work.

I found the one Heinrich ran a while back in Brisbane was a really good format:
  • The entire group worked to solve the kata
  • Practiced TDD with the group split up into pairs
  • Each pair would take a turn at the keyboard doing one step of the Red-Green-Refactor cycle
One of the most valuable things was the group code review that was going on. After each pair took their turn, the group would review what they had done and offer suggestions/alternatives/etc. Very interesting indeed.
