I'm about to build a heat gun oven.  I've read through quite a bit on the tips site and looked through the plans for a few as well.  Before I go ahead any insights, tips or tricks from those of you who have built an oven.
Thanks
Just

Re  oven.

I  built   an  oven for   a  heat  gun,  the  problem  was  getting   an   even  heat along   the   length of  the   oven.

I   think   a  strip  heater in  the   oven is  the   way to  go.  U  can   then   control   it   with   pid   control

Never  got   around   to changing   it   to   a   strip   heater   yet.

Hi All,
My oven is similar to Daniel’s, although mine sits on its end. I have also wrapped it in heat tolerant insulation, leaving 3 test holes for probe in top, bottom & middle. I did get quite good consistent readings when I had the heat gun adjusted properly. This often took 15 to 20 minutes to achieve. It did work a lot better when i insulated it!
I tend to build nodeless now so use the kitchen oven to heat treat these days.
Cheers Tony J

Hi   again.    Re   the   boo  oven.

I should   have   added   that  my   oven   is   fully  insulated  with   2   inch Kao wool  with   an internal aluminium   liner.   The   oven    has   3   temp  monitoring   points  and   when   in operation  has  3   digital  temp probes   in   place.

I   get    a variation   of  40   degrees  along   the   oven   after    30   minutes   operation.   I  cant   see   any   problems  with   the   cane even   with   this variation.

May   pull   it    off   the  roof    and     try   it   in   a vertical   mode  to   see   if   it   makes   any   difference.

If U   Google  DIDTAS  PHOTOBUCKET  .   There   is   a few  photos  of   some   rod    making   gear.

       Regards       DANIEL.
