DRAFT OCC minutes from 6-10-08

I apologize for the delay. Here is my DRAFT of the minutes from the
last OCC meeting of the year. We didn't circulate an attendance sheet
so I'm not 100% sure I have everyone. (The names are alphabetical by
first name.) Let me know if anyone is missing or if I have misspelled
anyone's name.
Also, I did not capture the report on the security cameras at Adams.
I am still trying to figure out how much needs to be included in the
minutes. This section got short shrift.
Some items cannot be resolved until the new principal starts. The
only things I can think of that should be resolved sooner rather than
later are:
(1) the website -- particularly the list of items needed to buy for
the classrooms. Last time I checked, the website differed from what
was handed out in the office.
(2) the new parent orientation -- when are we holding it and who will
develop it in time for the start of school. I know Margaret did a
great job on her proposal but the Board didn't get much chance to
discuss it because we ran out of time.
Claire has developed a volunteer inventory. I will send it out under
separate email.
Thanks all. And very soon these will be going out in English and
Spanish. Right now, I would rather get them out quickly and then
figure out how the translation will happen. (We don't have a Spanish
Co-Secretary.)

Thank you Phoebe for putting this together.
The gist of the security camera discussion was that Mr. Chrisman appears to have stepped back from his original plan to place a camera at each of the security desks. I understood from the Board members in attendance at the meeting that they wanted me to continue to press that original plan.

OK, so that last email was a quick summary of the security camera discussion at the Board mtg 6/10/08. Now a quick update.
I called Mr. Chrisman and he said that the most important issue for him is hearing from Principal Aguirre and getting the word from her about what she wants to do. In fact, Mr. Chrisman said, he would like to attend a Board meeting and discuss these issues at such a meeting with Principal Aguirre in attendance.
I called the school office on Thursday and left a message for the principal. I understand that at their meeting with her last week, Claire and Maribel highlighted the issue of security (thank you Claire and Maribel!) and mentioned me as a contact. I will follow up next week.

Would it be possible please for someone to tell me how to get my new e-mail address on this googlegroups list if that is OK? Although I'm not on the Board any more, just to stay in contact as chair of the security committee? But I don't think this e-mail address will work past the end of July & I don't know how to switch it. (My new address is lmgl...@verizon.net.)
