Had this bug since forever. You hit load game. You can alt tab, but your mouse is gone until Skyrim is done loading. No cursor, clicks / scrolls do nothing. You are effectively blocked from doing anything else while Skyrim loads, even when you have it setup in windowed mode and its in the background.

I found this great cursor set for Skyrim (PC version), I don't have it for the PC so I found this and it makes me feel a little better about not having it :3 Here's the link- -designer.com/cursor-set/skyrim

Even if I put the mouse cursor in a "dead" location it'll always end up somewhere else when I enter a menu because you HAVE to use the mouse to dismiss various modal dialogs that can not be activated with the keyboard.

I've already posted on Bethesda blog once to suggest that they stop the mouse from highlighting anything until you actually move the mouse or click. And also perhaps add keyboard shortcuts to the modal dialogs.

This mod will be most useful for people who like to use both thekeyboard and mouse, it fixes issues where the mouse just flat outprevents some keyboard controls from working as expected. If youexclusively use the mouse to scroll and click through dialogues youmay not have run into some of these issues. Likewise if you do notmove the mouse at all after entering a dialogue. If you move the mousepointer after entering a dialogue, then you will run into the issuesbelow:

UPDATE2: Getting closer to a solution... The Skyrim UI appears to be entirely made in Flash. Whoah. There are .swf files in the Interface/ folder (extracted from the BSA files). No one put out a mod yet to address this though, so the next step is to open the SWF files in Flash and find the mouse highlight code/selection code.

UPDATE1: I looked into the complete 41KB heavy SkyrimPrefs.ini file that you get after using the saveini command. Unfortunately there are very few settings related to the UI, it seems. Most are angles for lights, cameras or speed settings such as the speed to switch between X and Y. Very few mouse settings as well. None at all that I could find were related to the mouse cursor, or menu selection. As a programmer I wouldn't have expected to find them there either but you never know...

Are you using Simple Borderless Window? If so, that sometimes has a bug where the mouse cursor is hidden in Windows as well. The solutions I've found for it are getting the Double Cursor Fix/Borderless Window mods (they're in the mod testing section if that helps), or if you want to keep using SBW, then whenever you get the issue, change your Windows theme.

It looks like the game is also keeping track of my desktop cursor as well as the in-game cursor, it keeps warping back and forth between the cursors, so selecting menu buttons is difficult and just looking around is a headache, it keeps flipping back and forth. Is there anyway to force skyrim to just ignore the desktop cursor?

Next, when I have problems with the mouse not being properly captured by the game (i.e., turning around stops when the desktop mouse reaches the edge of the window), I find that forcing the game to reset its mouse capturing generally fixes it. Does the problem happen every time or only sometimes? If it's only sometimes, then I expect this to work to reset the game's mouse capturing and fix the problem for the current Skyrim session.

I didn't play the game for long time, but last time i played everything was fine, today i wanted to play a little, but first i updated some of the mods i use before launching the game, after i did so i opened the game and in the main menu i can't see my mouse cursor nor the text (continue, load, etc)

I have two screens. mainly I use only one but I want when I'm gaming or something to have skype open on the second screen. this works well, until I want to do something in skype. In both starcraft II and warcraft III the mouse just won't move to the other screen while on the desktop or in non-games the mouse jumps from screen to screen when I move it to the edge.
I there a way to make the mouse still jump from screen to screen when a game is on? or even better have a shortcut that moves the mouse to another screen (like alt-1 will put it on screen 1, alt-2 on screen 2)?

One neat trick I use is the Steam overlay. In fullscreen games that "trap" the mouse to a single monitor, I simply bring up the Steam overlay with Shift+Tab and then I am able to move the cursor to another monitor.

some games allow you to go to the other screen but at the games that don't, i just run them in windowed mode but still full screen, a windowed mode that fills up the screen if you know what i mean.. then when you want to change screens, just press start button and you can move your mouse. when you're done then just click on your game window again to continue :)

You can also use Windows Game Bar to do the same thing as Steam Overlay. When I play Games with controller on pc. Such as Assassin Creed Valhalla I hit the game bar button on the controller to unlock the mouse to move to the second Screen ( yes I'm running game on primary screen in full screen mode).

When I do anything that involves mouse position: info window click, measure tool, etc... the point that shows up on the map is offset to the left of the mouse cursor by 10px. This is only in IE for me. The mouse lines up perfectly in Chrome and Firefox.

Generally, this issue occurs when the game has detected that an Xbox 360 controller or other gamepad was connected to the computer during the initial startup of the game. Because of this, the game is defaulting to this controller instead of the keyboard and mouse.

If it helps, here's the reason.
Since this morning I have been experiencing the "mouse pointer issue" in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Basically, my computer's mouse pointer won't go away when I launch the game. I've tried mostly every possible thing (I installed many mods to get rid of it, and even checked integrity. No results).

I've been at it all day and I just simply want to play Skyrim again...
Instead of getting rid of the issue, I'd like to just hide the mouse pointer whenever I want (example, when I want to play Skyrim), and toggle it back afterwards.

Go to Control Panel, and search "mouse"
Select "Change how the mouse pointer looks"
Here's the one part I'm not so sure about. In theory you should just be able to find a blank .cur file online, and use that, but I'm not sure...

1) Download this. It's a blank .cur file (used for cursors).
2) Go to the mouse pointer options I previously mentioned.
3) Go to the customize box, and make sure "normal" is selected. (Like so)
4) Click "browse", and navigate to wherever you downloaded the blank.cur file to. Select it.
5) Save the scheme as something, and then hit cancel (so that you're not stuck with an invisible cursor). Also make sure "Allow themes to change mouse pointers" is ticked.
6) Create a theme with the invisible mouse pointer scheme, and make sure you have a different theme with the normal scheme to switch back to.
7) Write a small .bat file which will switch between them, or possibly an .ahk script, since I think that'd probably work better. I might be able to make the .ahk script for you if you tell me what you named the themes, and what drive they're on, but I'm sure there are other people here who are more proficient at AHK than me.
8) Obligatory triple question mark step: ???
9) Obligatory profit step: Profit

I never modded Skyrim outside from the workshop mods. So when I tried installed ModOrganizer and the mouse fix mod, and (being a total noob at modding Skyrim), I must have done something wrong...
Because whenever I start the ModOrganizer launcher, the game launches in windowed mode and I can't get it to go fullscreen.

Once I enter a game, the mouse cursor is invisible when trying to navigate menus. Eventually, it seems to end up disabled; even blind moving the mouse around while waiting for the menu option to highlight stops working. It makes the game unplayable.

The mouse is available when I launch the game, and I can navigate the menu until a new game begins. Once the new game begins, the mouse disappears. When I pull up the inventory, if I wiggle the mouse a lot, sometimes buttons will highlight. But, as stratvox says, after a while even that quits working.

I believe i am experiencing the same issue. I am running steam on linux mint with nvidia drivers the game loads and runs fine until i need to enter an options or other sub menu at which point i can navigate the menu with the arrow keys, but even when the confirm button appears beside the back button in the lower left of the screen (after changing a setting in options) it remains greyed out. There is no visible mouse cursor to move to the button and no other means with the arrow keys or tab or anything else to select the button. I have read elsewhere that selecting unlock the mouse cursor in options can resolve similar issues however while i can change the setting with my arrow keys i can not save the change as i can not hit the confirm button. I have attempted to navigate to the confirm button with the mouse in case the cursor is simply invisible but at no point is there any audible or visuall response that the cursor may have moved over the confirm button so i believe the cursor is not only invisible but non functioning also.

I figured it out. You need to set the mouse cursor to be not locked to the window, and the cursor works. When you launch the game, go into options while you still have the mouse cursor (before you go into an actual game, that is), set the mouse to be not locked to the window, and the cursor will work in the game.

I do not have the mouse cursor visible in the options menu to make that change. Does anyone know of a way to perhaps edit a settings file outside of the game to put the game in to mouse cursor "not locked" state,as a temporary fix?
