by default: No, the mysqld listens on the local host socket only
(which is the default setup of mysqld).
But you may change the configuration, open a root shell via the
frontend and type
mcedit /etc/mysql/my.cnf
now locate the line "bind-address" (line 47) and change the value
"127.0.0.1" to "0.0.0.0". save (key F2)
and quit the editor.
run:
/etc/initd./mysql restart
mysqld should listen on every network address now, so you may connect
to the server with your
frontend.
