Dear all,

On the 14th November a few people from the from the Algebra of
Programming group intend to go to Fun in the Afternoon (see the
announcement below, and the website [1]). It's usually an afternoon of
interesting talks and a fun way to get an update on the latest and
greatest in what's going on in the functional programming community in
the UK. It's also a great excuse to share a curry with fellow
functional programmers from all over the country.

Depending on numbers it might make sense to hire a minivan and go as a
group. So, if you're interested in going to FitA and would like to
join us, then do let me know before the end of this Friday 2nd
November, and I'll see if it makes sense to book something.

All the best,

Nick

We haven't had much Fun lately, so it's high time we had some more.
Miles Sabin (milessabin.com) has kindly agreed to host us in Brighton,
on 14th November. More local details will follow, but I wanted to get
the date in your diaries, and also to solicit speakers. Please let me
know if you'd like to give a talk! Conor, Graham, and I are all in
Copenhagen at ICFP this week, so if you're there too, feel free to
grab one of us.

Dear all,

It seems that only 5 or 6 people want to go to FitA this time round. I
looked into how long it would take for us to get there, and there
isn't much of a difference between taking the train (about 2hrs
40mins), and driving (2hrs 15mins, but going via the M25). I therefore
suggest we simply take the train as individuals, since we'll be able
to depart whenever it's convenient. As soon as we have more details
about when things are due to start, I'll let those of you who have
expressed an interest know when I'll be travelling, in case you'd like
to go together.

All the best,

Nick

There is a cost implication too... How much do six train fares cost?

I'm not going to be able to make this, but if you're going to be able to
take off-peak trains, you can get 4 for the price of 2 adult tickets so
long as the four travel together in the SE. Ask for GroupSave IIRC.
