Hi all,

starting this week, the St Greg's astro is booked for Tuesdays 8-9.30pm and Thursdays 7-8.30pm [not Union Street]. There are a total of 25 sessions booked in this first half of the winter season, 13 Tuesdays and 12 Thursdays (the pitch is unavailable Thursday 28 November).

This week only, I suggest starting at 6pm at Marsh Park on both Tuesday and Thursday, bringing people over to the astro as it gets dark. In October, we will stop going to Marsh Park. Sundays are at Florence Park as always.

Prices
Anyone trying St Greg's for the first time can come for free.

Suggested contributions toward the cost of hire and public liability insurance:
£3.50 per session, and/or...
£35 - up to thirteen sessions [any mix of Tue/Thu]
£60 - up to the full 25 sessions

See you,

Minh

Dear frisbee friends

I hope you'll forgive me for sending a personal email to the group address, as I don't have individual emails for most of you. Also apologies if you don't know me/ it's not welcome.

On the evening of Tuesday 14th January (the night of Hurricane Brendan) I slipped and fell at the St. Gregs pitch failing to catch my first frisbee. I was joining a small group of die hards mid game, hadn't warmed up, hadn't played since before Christmas and was wearing those ridiculous toed shoes with no grip. I went down on my knee and hip. Bruce saw I was in a bit of shock and gave me a hug, which was deeply appreciated. I didn't manage to walk off the pain and left the game. It was the start of a whole saga, leading to the discovery two weeks later that I had broken off the head of my femur and needed a total hip replacement. I am doing well in recovery, it is a very standard operation and all signs are really positive, so no need for sympathy please. But this is life changing and I may have played my last frisbee game. I would like to retain the right to reverse that decision at a later point, but I can't imagine playing frisbee with less than total commitment, and the
!
idea of watching Isaac making a break for the end zone and having to hold back to think about my hip takes the fun out of what has been one of the most magical elements of my life over more than 20 years. All things come to pass. I will see you all individually around the place, but meanwhile have some requests, please. 1. Play every game as if it is your last. 2. Encourage Magic Marge to continue. 3. Hold strongly to the values that make it special, and if in doubt ask Eylan. 4. Join me for a celebration that I would like to organise to pay homage to the gift of frisbee, potentially at Hogsacre at some point in the future, perhaps early summer.

Final point; I am writing a personal account about this experience (it started when I was in a drug induced and sleep deprived haze, and isn't for the faint hearted). Let me know if you would like a copy and forward me an email address.

Pete x
