I have several hill challenged friends who will be turning around at Taylor. There will even be a lightly staffed/supplied rest station at Taylor.
More importantly I think it is highly likely the Patron of the Pelton will control this to be a very congenial social ride where noone is left behind. It may split into an A group and BC group but I'm sure if you elect to ride the 55 you will not be left in the wind all alone.

If it helps, there's an impromptu 15-20 mile route shaping up with people who are turning around at Taylor. Might be a good option for you.--
