Karen,

won't this all be moot if we get the state to pass it this legislative session?  Am I missing something?  I thought state legislatures were a slam dunk?  Tell me what I am missing.

I guess, in a community as small as Pontotoc, I was counting on the
state to pass this law. Do I need to pursue the board of Alderman in
Pontotoc instead?

Are we still pursuing the state legislature?

Not moot - We are most definitely moving ahead with the statewide efforts.
Local efforts have grassroot effects for education and awareness, not to mention the pressure it puts on the statewide movements!  It reaches the local representatives that vote on the statewide motions.
It all works together :)
We simply need to make sure the statewide language is not completely different than the local laws - which sometimes happens.
Many times it's very difficult to pass a 3 foot ordinance in a pro-bike community.  This is common to have an ordinance in the community and at the state level.

Everything is all right :)

Thanks my friend. Just hard to get this stuff accomplished in
Pontotoc I think. I depend on the state coming to bat for the entire
state. I am so ready to put up signs in Pontotoc County "3 Foot, Its
the Law". We ride on so many roads in the county that these signs and
the billboards and other public awareness is going to help SO MUCH.
On a different note, The Rails to Trails is moving on along with the
environmental and engineering work. I am SO EXCITED for Pontotoc,
Union, and Chickasaw counties. 2 years I am thinking to being fully
open for bikers.
