Thanks for the question Richard. As a matter of fact we are in the
process of composing a wish list for the next round of improvements.

I added Lafayette High (goes with Vivian's wish for paved shoulders on
334) to about 40 ideas submitted by Pathways Commissioners.

You could all help us out by noting your preferences on the form here:

http://www.loupathways.org/phase3form

There are two categories, (1) high priority and (2) maybe later. If
you don't see a particular idea as desirable you don't need to check
either box.

The very last question is an opportunity to add your own new suggestion.

If you need explanation of the sometimes cryptic descriptions respond
here and I will try to explain.

Thanks

Mike

Lafayette High and 334 if added will take from south Lamar. Lafayette school does not have any students with in 5 miles from the school...that could ride a bike to school..  my kids go to school @ Lafayette. I would love to see bike paths..to the school but with no parents that will let them ride that far in the am.....  lets put our money were it will be best used..

There are several developments popping up close to LHS, so I think
it's a good idea to get ahead on this one. It will also help people
living close LHS in using their bikes to commute to Kroger and even
into town. Riding a bike on University in front of Kroger is very
intimidating - and dangerous. I've had a few close calls and have all
but given up using my road bike. Riding the mountain bike on the grass
is a little safer. I understand the city is supposed to be reworking
the road surface there, so the addition of bike & pedestrian paths
will be more than welcome by yours truly.

Agreed.  I have my cruiser pimped out with front and rear wicker baskets, and I like to ride around to shop.

I wish there were a few more bike racks around town near businesses so that I can lock my cruiser up ... are bike racks anywhere in the plan?

Kroger needs them - BAD. I think Wal-Mart has some. It would be nice
to have a few at the shopping center(s) on University.

No.  Walmart doesn't have any bike racks.

However, I usually "park" my cruiser at the food end of the store, after having ridden along the eastern margin of the parking lot to stay away from moving cars.  (I jump the curb into their un-used lot out front).  The greeter usually sees me when I leave my cruiser locked to "nothing" out front and seems to feel responcible.  S/he seems to spend some time outside looking out for my bike for me.  I always offer a word of thanks when I leave.

There is definitely a bike rack at the Oxford Wal*Mart.

That is a picture I took of it today.

I didn't say it was easy to get to or (really) accessible.  But it is there.  It's on the food side.

I've been out of pocket and on my "CrackBerry" for several days, so I never saw Jay's picture.  Now that I am holed up in a hotel room with wireless, I want Jason to know how really impressed I am that he found this.  Ya think I outta ask the greeters to clear the rack for me the next time I go foraging for bread and milk?  Ya think the greeter will even know this is actually a bike rack and NOT a cart corrall?
