Thanks.  Good info.  Corresponds to my own experience (what works for me does not work for my wife or anyone else, necessarily, and vice versa), and a favorite philosophy, which is that most sports-related stuff on the market is over-priced and largely unnecessary.

Then again, if you think it works and you like it (and it's legal), well, I'm not giving up my eFuels or eGels....or my fig bars...or doughnuts on Wednesdays...or...

Happy cycling,
Don M.

Haven't seen anyone post if we will have a ride tomorrow morning or where it will start if there is one.   Any info out there?

Robert

Bo is not available and Walter and I can't commit this weekend. You guys could just call a ride.

Robert, should we just say meet at Plein Air in Taylor and just decide a route before we take off?

Anyone object to Plein Air at 7?

How does 7:00 a.m. at Plein Air sound to y'all. Any distance you would like is ok with me. We can decide that in the morning.

Good summary that comes with several recent & current papers in the BMJ on Big Pharma, Gatorade, and conflict of interest casting a shadow on apparently very limited study results. Subsumes the more brief paper Greg cited below.

Bottom line:
-casual exercisers don't need much/any added hydration
-the dehydration - heat stroke link is mostly a myth
-consuming excess fluid [sports drink or water] can kill you by reducing sodium levels
