"Mobile Robotics, Human-Robot Interaction, Social Robotics" with Dr. Khen Lee Koay

"This talk will cover our work in designing robot companions as home assistants, based on our experiences as part of three separate European projects. The presentation will begin with an overview of industrial and domestic robots, and research in the field of Human-Robot Interaction. Then we will discuss the requirements for socially-aware domestic robotic companions and how robot companions can be useful in home environments by offering assistance to their users, adopting a user-centred perspective. This will be supported by examples from our previous research studies at the University of Hertfordshire's Robot House. The presentation will explore functionalities, behaviour, user interfaces and safety issues of domestic robots."
