Harvest

Dear all,

Following on from my previous request for suggestions for charities to support at Harvest (probably October 2nd) this year, Hannah and I have now presented the options to Vaughan and Pete. They have chosen to support Friends of CME, as well as the crisis in the Horn of Africa via some of Tearfund's partners.

Hannah has prepared an insert to go into the handout, probably on September 11th. We're also hoping to speak at CPM on the 14th September. Pete is going to ask the congregation leaders to mention it in the service on the 18th. 

We're hoping that somebody from the justice group will be able to remind their congregations about this on the 25th. Hannah and I are able to do the 16:30 service. 

Would any of you be willing to speak to your congregations on Sunday 25th September? 

I'd imagine we will meet before then to discuss what to say, although I doubt we'll be speaking for more than 2 minutes. The point is that God willing, we'll drum up some enthusiasm for the Harvest offering and the charities we are hoping to support. In the future I'd love us to be able to feed back to everyone after the event so that everyone knows what God achieved with through the charities with the money they gave. 

Hopefully these things will encourage the congregation in their giving, bless those in need and help us to better serve God as a church.
