Found a terrific house three blocks from Eastern Market, steps from a pretty park and close to the Metro, Capitol Hill, and Union Station. I'm looking for a few people-- pairs of roommates, couples, singles, whomever-- who might like to share it. Have been looking for months, and most places are boring or scary, but this house is great.
About me: 27 y.o. professional female, off the campaign and two years' graduate fellowship abroad, Williams before that, moved to Washington earlier this year for work. Vegetarian but not squeamish, love NPR and the West Wing (RIP) and people most of all, love to cook for groups of friends. Sense of humor key!
Looking for a nice group of roommates to share a neat place-- safe, central, great light, plenty of room for dinner parties and bookshelves, a back garden/patio for summertime. Nice high ceilings-- 11+ feet!-- in bedrooms and main rooms on first floor. Looking for people who want to come back to a home, smiles, some good food after a long day's work, rather than just to a room.
The house has three bedrooms, a kitchen, two baths, washer/dryer, and a beautiful main living/dining room, all with wooden floors, and the apartment (English basement with far more light than is typical; landlords will let you choose the paint color when they repaint if we know you are renting in time) has a large bedroom, a kitchen, washer/dryer, and bath.
The rooms:
Main floor:
--Kitchen. Not large, but appliances are new and there's plenty of storage space.
--Back patio. Great space for summertime, and maybe a little garden.
--Large living/ dining space, large enough for big dining room table and several chairs/ couches and bookshelves.
--One bedroom. High ceilings, lots of light, wooden floors, big built-in bookshelves, plenty of room for a bed and a sitting/work area. Has closet.
Second floor:
--One bedroom, full of light, hardwood floors, windows, big enough for a bed and sitting/work area. Has closet. Next to second-floor bath.
--One bedroom with bath, high ceilings, lots of light, rounded nook at front. Has closet.
Rent may vary slightly by room. Average of $900.
Lower level:
--English basement apartment. Huge space-- the area of the other three rooms combined. Perfect for a couple or individual wishing to be a part of the house or have your own apartment. Private bathroom, two doors to patio and front of the house, door to staircase. Nice privacy. Own kitchen and washer/dryer. Nice nooks-- could make into bedroom + office, bedroom + studio, etc. Apartment rent: $1100.
Unfurnished so far, but I will furnish the common spaces nicely before people move in. If you have some pieces, all the better.
Anyhow... must be available to start paying rent on November 1. Would love to talk at your earliest convenience if this looks like it might be a fit.
Email and we'll find a few minutes to meet up for a quick coffee! If you're interested, please write and tell us a little bit about yourself, what you like to do, what you're looking for in a home, and what makes you laugh. Would love to meet groups of friends looking to take several rooms.
********Note: furnishings in photographs belong to previous tenants. They're willing to repaint the apartment and possibly other rooms in colors of your choice.*************
