Hi,
I was wondering if I should apply to Oxford/Cambridge before I receive
a decision
OR is it better to wait until I've been through the interview process
and received a "yes" before further applying to OxCam?

Hi,

I think you are asking whether you should apply to Oxford/Cambridge first before the partnership has accepted you or if you need to wait until you have been accepted into the OxCam NIH Partnership? The answer is that you should wait until you are accepted into the OxCam Scholars Program. Since we go through a separate application process than other students applying directly to the university, its essential to have the program acceptance (which also means you have secured funding) before applying to the University itself. The universities generally set aside spots for us in colleges and most supervisors/departments are very keen to take on a fully-funded graduate student so you shouldn't have to worry about openings in labs/colleges. However, it is fine to start contacting labs now to find out about openings/their interest in taking a new student!

Hope this helps!

Lydia
