Hi everyone,
I am looking at comparing a lake record based on Tephra ID's with another similar record. To do so I need to update the age model, as the original used intcal 04 and the SHcal20 is more appropriate (both records are in New Zealand).

The original lake record has minimal radiocarbon dates (basal ages only) and used mean age estimates from broader literature, corrected with IntCal04

Is the best way to go about this to collect all known dates for each tephra and code them into a p_sequence using the combine function and use the resultant dates? As the original tephra estimates are quite old (late 80's early 90's) I am apprehensive about using the mean ages reported in the texts.

Cheers
Immy

Hi Immy, Yes, this is exactly what I would do.
Instead of Combine, I think you want to cross-reference the tephras, so they're the same event in both P_Sequences.
Hope this helps, Erik
