Dear all,

I wanted to ask you a quick question. How can one change the width and resolution of a plot in OxCal? I haven’t been able to adjust it to the required specifications (width of 13.5 cm and a resolution of at least 300 dpi).

Thank you very much for your help!

Best regards,
Alejandra

Hi!
It may be other ways, but one simple way to achieve a good resolution of the plot is to change Zoom in the Oxcal > Edit > Layout menu. If i'm exporting a plot to png I set zoom to 400. The output is still 96 dpi but as the width of the picture is c.72 cm it looks good on screen/print. (And if needed you can easily change it to the requested "width of 13.5 cm and a resolution of at least 300 dpi" in for example photoshop).

If you export the plot to svg-format you instead get a picture in Scalable Vector Graphics which always looks good in print since it is vector graphics. Not all software can handle svg-format though.

kind regards / Fredrik

Yes - the alternative is pdf format which is read by almost all software. From there you can convert to png at whatever resolution you require. The pdf or svg will always be higher quality though.

Best wishes
