Dear all,

Please find the details for the upcoming numismatics lecture series, "Money in Late Antiquity, Byzantium, the Medieval West (300-1100)", by dr. Julian Baker below.
The lectures are open to all, accompanied by coin handling, and will run from Trinity weeks 1-4 on Wednesdays 12-1pm

Venue: Ashmolean Museum, Floor 2, Coin Study Centre, off Gallery 36 Japan after 1860

  1. 12:00, 29 April: Roman and Byzantine Coinage, Ostragoths and Vandals, the Byzantine "Dark Ages", ca. 300-800
  2. 12:00, 6 May: Francia, Iberia, England, ca. 500-750
  3. 12:00, 13 May: Carolingians, Vikings, Anglo-Saxons, and the Birth of the Medieval West, ca. 750-1100
  4. 12:00, 20 May: The Middle Byzantine Period, ca. 800-1100
Following these four lectures, dr. Baker will lecture informally on Byzantine coins 1100-1453 (details TBA).
