The Central Issue

The idea of a Universal gives the constitution the durability it has
enjoyed beyond any other founding document in human history. But, what
is the substance of Universals?

The Universe is inherantly creative. The potential for life continues
to grow and expand. Not only are there evolutions of species, but even
evolutions of what living creatures can do, as the case of mankind
proves. We live in such a Universe and everywhere in that domain
"cause" gives birth to "effect". That relationship we identify as an
everpresent one is the universal relationship of cause and effect.

If we began a discussion on the subject of truth, we would not say
that truth is one way today and the extreme opposite tomorrow, only to
come back to the former position the day after! That would be absurd!
Imagine during questioning on the witness stand or in an interrogation
room an alibi is one way at one time, and another way during more
intense questioning, would you attribute actuality to the statements
made, or look deeper into them? Consistancy would have to be
everywhere present for something to be actual. To be here today gone
tomorrow, does not serve to provide a sense of "sure-footing" that is
pre-requisite to take the next step. What are other Universal
Characterists and what does that tell us about the constitution of the
United States?

We talk about the 'general welfare' in a confused way at times in
popular discussion. Some people say it is the "common good", but an
unanswered question remains how do you turn the common good into an
action? Some say the general Welfare is just excessive language, yet
excessive language eventually deflates to a state with a lot less
"air" and fluff ,but our constitution has never been re-written.
Confusion aside, the permanence of the constitution is not an accident
or something "luck" can explain. The fact it has endured becomes proof
that consistancy is apart of its fabric.

The general welfare as it is outlined in our declaration of
Independence and acts as the adhesive for the whole constitution, does
not discriminate against race, gender,socio-economic status, or age.
The idea of the general welfare extends to the entire peoples of the
United States and humanity in much the same way as gravity extends to
the entire peoples of the earth. When we think of policies and
proposals that are not single issue, this beginning resolves a great
deal of angst one encounters trying to think about what policies would
flow from promoting the general welfare. Bringing electricity to the
peoples of a nation, not only allows more humans to live within a
nation's borders, but it also would benefit all the peoples
indiscriminately within those borders. The general welfare would be
that which said policy would promote. It is also said to be promoting
the general welfare when we provide for the common defense; the
military are not here to protect the interests of the wealthy, in
their best employment they are commissioned to organize a system of
proper protection that ensures the safety of the American people.
Again, the American People as a whole, and not a section of the people
benefit from such policies.

Universals transcend beyond space-time as they are not subject to
death, are not here today gone tomorrow as they are all pervasive, and
the fact our minds can wrap around and conceptualize them demonstrates
the Universe is contained by a unique species that can exert its
influence on the level beyond the finite!
