Celebrations in El Barrio, New York following the
release of Francisco Sántiz López
Compañeras and compañeros:
Movement for Justice in El Barrio, The Other Campaign
New York would like to share with everyone the great news about the release of
Francisco Sántiz López, who has endured a wrongful conviction imposed by the
repressive bad government of Mexico just because he is
Zapatista.
Since December 4, 2011 he has had to suffer unjust
imprisonment by the forces of the vindictive bad government of Mexico. His
arrest and the time he spent behind bars was absolutely unjust and racist, as
Francisco Sántiz López never committed any crime.
His strength and courage has been an inspiration to
Movement for Justice in El Barrio and a very powerful reason to keep fighting.
The walls that enclosed our brother Francisco could not
confine memory. In time, every wall collapses, but the memory of a people
struggling with all their being to unite their dignity will never
end.
Today, we, the Mexican migrants of Movement for Justice
in El Barrio, The Other Campaign New York, are celebrating, knowing that this
was not a triumph of the rule of law, which does not exist in Mexico, but a
triumph of our Zapatista sisters and brothers and our compañer@s of good heart
in different corners of the world. We embrace you all and celebrate with you. In
the spirit of "Breaking down the prison walls", and giving "a Worldwide Echo in
Support of the Zapatistas", together we struggled and achieved the release of
our brother Francisco.
