I say we leave the boundaries for the COMMERCIAL DISTRICT as first proposed. Think of the map justification to include just Washington Street for another block north on both sides of the street and not the entire square block. I also contend that the churches are not rightly included in a commercial district and not connected to the commerce conducted in the downtown area, but more rightly connected to the social fabric through the residential parts of town.
Do we have other opinions? Are you all on this site???

Let’s consider this at the next meeting if we have remaining questions about it. Janet Kreger tells me that Bob Christensen, at SHPO, is the resident guru when it comes to drawing district boundaries. Shall we invite him to the next meeting of our study committee? He’s been here before and knows Owosso well. He was most recently in town to look at the Hotel Owosso before it was torn down and is enthusiastic about the richness of our historic building stock. He can be a great resource and guide for us.--Gary

Let's invite Mr. Christianson to come to give us his opinion immediately and save ourselves time and discussion. And NOT wait until the next meeting when we are to be done with our preliminary study.

Gary, and All,
I just phoned Tom Cook and asked that he call the SPHO office to invite Bob Christiansen to visit and offer his expert opinion on the borders; Tom agreed that it should be done. Lorraine |
Excellent, thanks Lorraine and Tom. Can we be informed when Bob will be in town so we can try to be present during his survey, or at least his summary of conclusions?--Gary
