Hi, I wanted to ask whats the best way to setup a Team event on OWLCMS. Something my gym occasionally does is an event where all the registered athletes are split into groups, and the teams are ranked by the total Sinclair points gained by the individual athletes.

The athletes are generally split by gender, then by age group only. Then for the teams, they are generally constructed by balancing the age groups amongst the teams.

I have established so far that I can manually assign the athletes to the teams in the athletes entries page. My query is, does OWLCMS have a way to assign the teams via a set of rules, or is that up to me? Additionally, after having assigned the teams, what is the best way to gather the total Sinclair points of the individual teams in order to get a rank.

This is not an urgent query, I can assign the teams manually and I have created a script in excel VBA that automatically extracts the team points and ranks from the Competition Results tab => Final Results Package Score excel sheet. I am mostly checking if there is a better way to set things up in OWLCMS 59.0.0 that I may have missed.

There are as many creative/crazy ways to set up team meets as there are clubs and federations.
So there are no rules and the proper way is to assign the teams manually in your registration file.

If your competition is "sum of Sinclair scores" there is a template in the same area as the Final package that already does that.
See TeamsGlobalScoring-A4.xlsx
And if that is the case, there is a scoreboard that will show the leading teams ("Top Team Sinclair").
(you need to pick Sinclair as the "Best Lifter" score in the competition rules for these two features).
