Hi,
I tested the latest OWLCMS version 62 during a competition and ran into an issue.

At first everything works fine when using Announcer, but after some time the system starts showing older data or freezes. Some information disappears and the screen goes back to a previous state, for example it shows attempts from roughly 10 minutes earlier. If I press “Reload session” a few times, the system usually recovers and shows all the correct and up-to-date information again. If that does not help, refreshing the browser brings everything back to normal.

After that it works normally for a while, but later the same problem appears again. This also affects the display screens. The Attempt Board may show a different athlete, usually the one that appears after the refresh. Sometimes the Scoresheet and other screens stop updating and again only a browser refresh restores the correct state.

This happened often when using Firefox. After switching to Chrome it became more stable, but the issue still appears occasionally. The main computer is on Windows 11, others are on Windows 10.

Thanks, and thank you for making OWLCMS.

Please send a database export and a copy of your logs to owlcms-bugs @ jflamy.dev

The only thing I can see causing something like this would be some confusion in the field of play (platform) handling -- like did you have more than one platform, and where you sharing computers between platforms.  More strange could be issues in the naming of your platforms (character set problems).

Until now I have been using version 49.0.3 and everything worked well without any issues. With version 62 I used the same setup.

I was working on one platform only and no computers were shared between platforms.

I have sent you the log files and the latest database backup. The system froze most often when I was using Firefox, which happened on the first competition day (10.17). The database I sent is from the second competition day (10.18), when I had already switched to Chrome. With Chrome, the issue still appeared but much less often.

Please let me know if you need anything else.

Thank you.

Short version: Restart the program after doing an import. Avoid loading registration files during a meet, and if you must, restart the program.

Long version:
owlcms has, inside, one "driver" controller for each platform that sends events to the various "listener" screens for that platform.
Normally, there is exactly one driver per platform.  When a new "driver" is created, the previous is stopped and removed.
Sometimes some unforeseen sequence of event means the old one stays active, and occasionally sends obsolete information
to the screens.

Loading an export file, of loading a registration file can define new sessions and new platforms, and.
as much as the program tries to keep things straightened out and delete obsolete stuff,  it is really much advised to restart the program.

Hello,
Thank you for your responses.
We enter the athletes’ data for each group right before the group starts, as the athletes are weighed only before the specific group they participate in. For this reason, we have a very short time to input the data (participant’s weight, attempt weights, additional participants who arrive on the spot, etc.), so we record the data for each group in Excel — it’s faster that way — and then import it into the program before each group. Before uploading the new group’s Excel file with participant information, we always close the program and restart it. We did the same with the previous version of the program, and it worked perfectly without any issues.

You need to restart AFTER loading.  There is now a warning in the program.  There have been many changes in the program since version 49, and it was much simpler then.

The normal way to solve the issue is to enter the data about session 2 while session 1 is still going on. After all, there
has to be a delay between end of weigh-in and start of lifting.  This does require an extra laptop. We use the same
one for data entry as we do to produce the introduction sheets, the medal awards, etc.
There is a quick mode where you can just enter each athlete in the start order (body weight, snatch, cj, enter)

The new quick mode does make data entry nearly as fast as entering in a spreadsheet.
