Thank you to all who responded to my request for info/experiences with the Adventure Cycle people and Ride with GPS app/maps.
FYI, Adventure Cycling (AC) used to supply GPX files directly for routes they sell maps for. That has changed. They now have a kind of "private channel" on RWGPS that gets customers direct access to private routes that are "owned" by AC called Ride with GPS Experience. The customers then use the RWGPS app to download any digital maps they purchase. And also use the app to export to a GPX file for use on a Garmin.
From other's input on using RWGPX, it seems its a GIGO (Garbage In/ Garbage Out) type of thing.
The two rides I had trouble with over the last two years -- Rochester and Northfield -- used GPX files someone already downloaded (or supplied) and offered those to registered riders. I'm now thinking those files were not of the quality I would expect for doing a supported ride.
I hope to see some of you from time to time while I'm out on my bike. If you see someone in bright colors that waves, its probably me. Please wave back.
Tail Winds.
