Some questions about OpenVirteX

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am Jian Chen, a master student from National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan. 

My research is related to multi-tenancy and QoS on SDN which I have found that OVX could help me in research. I got some questions regarding to OVX,

1. Does the OVX project keep on developing? It is because the available source code were built 6 months ago.

2. Would the OVX project support OpenFlow 1.3? As current version support only OpenFlow 1.0

3. I wish to know whether I could join your team in developing OVX for OpenFlow 1.3, If your team plans to support OpenFlow 1.3 in future. I look forward to receiving your reply. Thank you. Your Sincerely, Jian Chen

sorry for the slow reply.

Here at ON.Lab we still do sporadic bug fixes, but most of our attention is on ONOS. In fact, we are currently adding virtualization support to ONOS.

OF1.3 is currently not supported in OVX but it is in ONOS.

It’s possible for you to contribute to OVX, we can definitely help and give pointers.

Hey Marc,

I am facing a similar problem. We (I am a PhD Student at Saarland University, Germany) have created a testbed at our University and as it is also connected to other international partners (Finland, India, other peers in Germany), we want to have multi-tenancy.

What do you mean with "virtualization support" in ONOS? Would it be possible so use ONOS as a replacement for OpenVirtex or FlowVisor? The reason is, that our partners and we are using different controllers and want to use them at the same time to make tests and so on.

@Jian: Do you actually consider working on this on your own or only together with the ON-Lab people?

I'm wondering - when you said below 'we are currently adding virtualization support to ONOS' last summer, how far has that got? I've not yet found any reference to OVX-like network virtualization in any ONOS doco (still looking!).
