Hi, I recently lost my phone and I'm just wondering if there's anyway
to recover my data on OvuView. Does the data automatically get backed
up somewhere online? Thanks,

Hi Captain,

the current backup options in OvuView are:
1. doing automatic daily backups to your SD card
2. manual backuping your data to email or Dropbox (this must be invoked by user)

In future updates we plan to add automatic backup to cloud too, but
current version (v2.2.2) does not have that option yet.

Best regards,
Ian / OvuView

Hi,

1. if you have the .ovu file backuped to email from the application than its name should be something like: ovuview-backup-email-2012-02-09.ovu . In this case, you can simply click on the Download button in your email client and it will automatically start OvuView and restore your data

2. if you have the .ovu file copied from your SD card then its name should be something like: backup-main-m-2012-02-09.ovu . In this case you have to copy this file to your SD card into folder /mnt/sdcard/OvuView/backup and then use the "Restore from SD card" feature from OvuView to restore your data. (If your .ovu file has a name that differs from this file name pattern, then you should rename it first before copy)

Regards,
Ian

Hi,

you don't have to download the backup file, just try to open the email attachment (of the original backup email) in your email client, and OvuView should open it automatically.

Hi Ian,

I downloaded the backup emails to my phone but it says it can't open the file. Do you have any suggestions?

Thank you!

I tried restoring my data from the sd card. A window popped up stating I'd lose all my new data, and I clicked OK. Sure enough it went back to my old color choice and removed the data I had just entered. However, it did not import any important data. My calendar is blank. I had multiple back up points listed, but no matter which I choose I get nothing. I would expect a more reliable automatic back up for a paid app.

I tried restoring my data from an sd card. I got a message warning me id lose all my new settings, and clicked ok.
