Dear OvuView/NFP Users!

We would like to extend the current mucus sensation tracking capabilities of OvuView in the near future. To come up with the best possible results, we would like to ask all of you - experienced NFP users, to let us know what attributes and values would you like to see included. Since there are a lot of different NFP schools using various sets of attributes, your feedback will be of great value to us! ;)

Thank you,
OvuView Team

Well, I don't know if this is directly related or a tangent, but my wife and I would very much like vaginal sensation (dry, sticky, wet, lubricative) as a symptom. It's a symptom described in TCOYF, and it was diagnostically valuable back when we used Ovusoft/TCOFY Software.

I also agree about sensation. Another issue I have is that my basic pattern is sticky. Creamy is fertile for me and ovuview doesn't seem to pick up on that too well. I often wind up having to enter in ovulation myself.

Since having kids, my wife is almost never completely dry. Occasionally, creamy is as much as she gets at ovulation, too. One feature we miss from TCOYF/Ovusoft is the ability to set her basic infertile/fertile pattern.

I was just logging on to say that I would like to be able to set my basic pattern. For me it is very important. I am not temping right now due to being up all night nursing o I relyon cervical fluid and other symptoms. My basic infertile pattern is never dry! It is sticky. This is a problem with ovuview because when I continue to enter stickt after I have clearly ovulated the app will change it and say I haven't ovulated yet. So I have to 'lie' and say I am dry to make it show my ovulation. I agree with the above poster about fertile fluid as well. The older I get the less I have (I am 31). Sometimes the most I get is creamy or watery but ovuview won't give me ovulation if I just have creamy. I might have to switch apps if these aren't fixed because otherwise it won't be accurate for me. :(

yes i agree with michal
using diffrent words is very important

and that color and strechyness are not the mosrt important
prediftors

i would add - a possiblityto mesure
how the secretion looks on the penties
and i would add the possiblity to write if it internal or external check

i would wish to be able to chose more then one word to describe the secretion
in the method me and michal schonberon are using
you need minimum of 3 words to describe the secretion

i would add after sticky , creamy...i would add milky
its diffrent from cream , and from water

i would add in the future , possiblity to add diffrent description of the blood . if its dark or bright , if it has pieces , thick heavy or light and fluid
it has a meaning in chinesse medicine
and while changing nutrition, taking diffrent drugs

i would add , a possiblity to say if there is blood in the scretion. during the month

 i would add
a possibilty for jewish weman
to add "tevila" (when is the purifiyn cermony )

i could think of more things.
:)
but i think its enough, no?

i tried to help you to translate to hebrew in the last spring
but i had a death in my family
and i was out of my life for a while
im back now
ive hear you are looking for someone to translate
im checking with a teacher friend , maybe we can do it together
i had technical problems back then
to work with your program
i hope its better now
i am better now for sure :)

good luck to us all

A comment on the "stretchy-ness" attribute suggested by Cassandra below-

Stretchy-ness is not a predictor of fertility, as any secretion can stretch between the fingers or on TP. Infertile secretion that stretches can be described as:  thick, pasty, doughy, gummy. It is heavy, lumpy, more solid.  When stretched it can appear stringy by breaking into threads or pieces. It leaves a dry stain in panties. It is acidic/sour (taste & smell test). It contains no water.  Fertile secretions that stretch can be described as thinner, lighter, smoother, more lubricative..They contain water and possess a neutral or sweet taste.    Color and amount of secretion are also not determinants of fertility as they tell us nothing about the quality of the secretion.  Women learn over time the relative changes they experience.  As a FAM teacher and trainer, I try to focus on the following attributes, in the following order of importance:
1) consistency-texture
2) sensation/feeling
3) stain on panties
4) scent or taste
5) color
6) amount

What is important is that the app defines clearly the "window of fertility" but this can only be accurate if a woman describes and interprets her secretions correctly.

I prefer a combination of sensation/feeling on the one side and the appearance on the other side (see the nice table in the posting of Charlotte on Aug 15th, 2012).

Dear developers,
it would be very kind if you could revise the muscus options as fast as possible.

Thank you!

I think it recognizing/allowing input for basic fertile pattern would be awesome.

I also second the sensation being separate.

As for actual mucus I would say perhaps either adding a grouping based on fertility level, or even listing them all out but using the many descriptions used in TCOYF.

Or just list the separate mucus characteristics and have checkboxes so more than one can be selected. For example, opaque mucus which has clear streaks is eggwhite, but perfectly clear stretchy is more fertile than that, even though they are both eggwhite. So being able to check multiple colors, opaque/transparent, how much stretch, etc, might be helpful.

It'd be nice if a definition/ explanation of the mucus was accessible from that symptom as new users attempt to understand their bodies.

I'd love to have strechy -ness in it as well since my mucus is always white and sticky. But around ovulation it can strech up to 4cm.
Thank u for this great app and for still improving it!

Hi,
Apologies if I use this thread wrongly, bit I would like to suggest the option of medications, since they alter mucus and temperature, and the program does not take them into account in the current version, to check these days out of the predictive engine.

Thx.

Has any progress been made on expanding mucus options? I'd really like to see basic fertile and infertile patterns accommodated. According to OvuView's mucus rules, my wife is never fertile (which we know isn't true).

I recently purchased the pro version - Ovuview is a great program! It could be even better, with user edited mucus options (each with fertility level).

I would like to know what mucus value to enter during bleeding in the current version so that the program has enough data.I additionally like the addition of the color/thickness of the blood.

Setting basic fertility patterns individually would be great - as previously mentioned the TCOYF software allows you to do this. My basic infertile pattern is sticky/creamy/dry, but I am also fertile when creamy right after eggwhite. What is different is the quantity and consistancy (i.e thickness, creaminess etc) of the CM. This causes some issues with fertility software for me, but TCOYF and Ovuview have been the two top charting softwares for me over the past 4 years.
Since TCOYF is lacking an app, I use mainly ovuview.

Incorporating sensation / stretchiness would be great to!

Another thing - can we have more pregnancy features? Like, identifying the triasic (can't spell it) phase during the luteal phase if it occurs?

I really liked the "conception chance" software on FF & the symptom tracker, they were pretty cool (just didn't like needing internet access to chart with FF + pay monthly / whatever to use the software. It was good. But it didn't get me pregnant and I used it for nearly two years, so it was not worth the money.

Been TTC for 4 years with unexplained infertility...

I would like to have the groups of rules set within the different methods. For example, have all of the calendar-based methods in one group, all of the mucus-only rules in one group, all of the temperature-based (only) rules in one group, and all of the mucus+temp rules in one group. Maybe even have sets of rules by method, but also allow you to pick which ones you want (for example, all Creighton rules in one section, all Billings rules in one section, all Marquette rules in one section, etc)

For reference, Creighton uses menstruation as a fertile time (due to the possibilty of obscuring any mucus present), any dry days before mucus as an infertile time, any days with clear, stretchy or lubricative (eggwhite, but any one of those attributes counts) mucus as fertile, and then a count of three days after each occurence of fertile mucus as fertile, then the post-ovulation days as infertile.

I'm using a user-defined field for lubrication and stretch.

I really love your app otherwise!

Congratulations on the app's development. I really liked it! Very important tool for women!

But... the mucus options could be better explained.

In the portuguese version, the Frequently Asked Questions describes a option 'pegajoso' that is not available at mucus options... And the description of all kind of mucus is too short... Maybe you could explain it better or add some images... Or use the same basis of the method of billings perhaps...

Anyway, thank you!

Hello,

I agree with Charlotte (15.08.12)
Please extend the mucus Option on the Basis of this Chart which Charlotte posted.

This is from the mothod TCOYF, and in Germany very common method Sensiplan.
Please extend These symptoms as fast as you can.

It would be great if you add the complete method "Sensiplan" in the app!! thank you.

Can you please extend the mucus Options?

See the very good Chart which Charlotte postet on 15.08.12, this is from a very common NFP method.

thanks

Hi, there will be extended mucus options in the upcoming OvuView
version 4. See attached screenshot. However the update needs a LOT OF
WORK (mucus values/input particularly is already done, but there is
the overall UI redesign), so don't expect it to be ready anytime soon.
Please be patient.

Hi,

Thanks for your answer. That is good News!!
so - how Long do we have to wait? months? a year?

Will these mucus options be comparable with the chart from NFP?

t (not fertile)
∅ (not fertile)
f (fertile)
S (more fertile)
S+ (most fertile)

Will this be implemented??

Thanks very much...

Could I help with testing? A Beta VEesion maybe??

I have seen your update about mucus options on facebook and it is great. I need to check 2 main categories: mucus, that I can see outside and the second, mucus directly on cervix. Both of them should have subcategories: character, colour, amount and elasticity. This should be all in one symptom cathegory "mucus".
I have som suggestion about temperature evalution too. The line should be on the highest of 6 temperatures before increase. And I need a second, upper line, that ist constant 2°C higher than down line. Or make a optin to choose own temperature lines.
Thank you :-)
