Im running Ubuntu 14.04 and my HUION h610 tablet works sort of. For example I can move the cursor with the pen and the right-click button works. However nothing else does. Meaning I can't draw at all on any programs, Gimp, Mypaint etc...I went to preferences and enabled the device which Gimp and Mypaint recognize. But again no drawing at all. Also the buttons on the tablet dont work at all.

Made a guide based on this question and it's answers. I'm re-posting it here as an answer since it is a direct answer to the OP's question and touches on some things that were missed in the other answers.

d) You can make different scripts and button schemes for the different Apps you use with the tablet. When making lauchers, you can make those scripts lauch before you launch the apps themselves. You do this by editing the Command in the laucher or desktop file. For example:

(b) xsetwacom --list parameters: this command will list what parameters xsetwacom can get and set. Example of the listed parameters are: Button, PressureCurve and Threshold. Be aware that since xf86-input-wacom is meant for Wacom tablets, there may be some parameters that won't apply to your H610.

DigiMend's Support section has some really awesome guides on how to setup with your tablet with the following applications: Alchemy, Blender, GIMP, Inkscape, Krita, MyPaint, Synfig Studio and apps running out of Wine.

I'm cutting and pasting based on what I have done.Getting the buttons working on a HUION 610 tablet in Ubuntu/Linux using out-of-tree drivers Use the clone or Download button on the page. Do not use the .deb v6 package for Ubuntu 16.04 or greater, as it will not detect the pad. Also advice from the related issue tracker.

Following another post, if you have 2 screens and want to limit it to one, use something like the below which you can find using the xrandr command line command. Running xinput in the terminal should give you a list of HUION devices. The 15 below was the HUION PenTablet Pen stylus device listed, your number may vary. The below maps to my monitor connected via DVI.

I have a Huion 610+ and it works just fine, running the 'stock' Ubuntu 17.10 kernel and then using xinput set-button-map, xbindkeys, and xdotool to map the 8 'left side hard-keys' to the functions I want in Krita. Set up with a script when I log in. Possibly my buttons solution is obsoleted by the DIGImend driver project.

(assuming 'xinput list' have told you that the tablet is named"HUION PenTablet Pad" and the pen is"HUION PenTablet Pen Pen (0)" - note, the virtual mouse 'Pen (0)' only shows up after you've touched the stylus to the pad at least once since the tablet got connected)

The only thing that does not work, for some reason I can't figure out yet, is key #4 on the tablet, the one named '8' in the list of '1 2 3 8 9 10 11 12'. I'll have to dig a little more on how to make that remapping work.

Setup the Xorg in /etc/X11. This is where the error happened (in my opinion).I used the solution given by thebunnyrules above. This solution is very nice and well explained. I could see my tablet and pen in xsetwacom --listbut the cursor would notappear while using the pen. This becomes difficult from here as I could notfind any well explained fix and I am still not sure what is actually causingit. But at least it has to do with how one creates the xorg file"52-tablet.conf". Finally I used the slightly different code to write the fileas described in the master repository here. Notice the difference fromthe above solution in 52-tablet.conf file (or name it as suggested"50-tablet.conf" but 52 worked for me just fine) - the second case has thedevice id specified in the code MatchUSBID ":". This made all the difference! Now I can see the cursor and use the stylus properly. To find the device id use lsusb. See the main repository for detailed description. Hope this will help someone with this problem. All the thanks to Nikolai Kondrashov.

How to connect adobe illustrator to Huion tablet in 2023? It works on a software test... but it's not seeing AI. It was working since 2019, then after multiple software updates it seemed to want a software update. Now it tests ok with the Huron software but it won't work in Ai.

Go to the link above and download the latest version for your model. There is a link for a pdf manual. You will also need to read the manual and see what it says. I downloaded a random one (H420) as I do not know your model number or OS. In that I found them mention Photoshop 2014. My guess is they stopped supporting updating their drivers, and you will need to load an older version of Adobe Creative Suite.

Hi Mike, Thanks for trying to help me. I have the correct driver. I was working with a Huion tech, ( I became frustrated when they emailed me every 24 hours with a slow reply.. I also now know that they are IN China, and I would have to work with them after 9 pm my time on the chat window). I can only get just so far with the newest driver for my model: Huion Pen Tablet- GT-220 V2. (I am on an Imac OS Ventura 13.4. When I run the test on the software after installation it tests as if its working and recognizes the pen on the test on my desktop. It does not however see the pen in AI or PSD.

The HUION tablet that I had purchased and installed before Mojave and before Catalina now tells me the driver is malicious software and to trash it. I've contacted Huion - and over 25 replies later, 2 videos, and 6 screenshots, they send me a new driver, and it still doesn't work. All components they recommend being checked as having access in SysPrefs - Security - Accessibility - are checked. I've checked other forums, and it's a known issue. Has anyone fixed this? Huion is of NO help.

As you report having done extensive work with the device manufacturer already and Catalina compatibility is still an issue, your best course of action may be to revert back to Mojave at least until Huion sorts out the compatibility issue.

If you don't have a Time Machine backup or do not wish to revert to a macOS version that is known to work with that device, you'll want to continue to work with the manufacturer on finding a solution.

After getting to test the premium Huion Inspiroy Q11K tablet, I was curious about how good the more averagely priced Huion tablets were so I bought this Huion New 1060 Plus when I saw it on sale on Amazon. (By averagely priced, I mean priced around the same as the small Wacom Intuos.)

The main reason why I chose this tablet is because of how many expresskeys there were, and because I wanted to see how convenient soft keys (the numbers along the top) are. I also wanted to see the extent of the older Huion drivers because I only got to see their newest drivers with the Q11K.

Anyways, on to the review!

Please note!

-I am not a Mac or Linux user!! I only tested this tablet on Windows 8 and Windows 10.

-The cable direction for this tablet is not suited to left-handed people!

The softkeys are a feature I have been interested in for a fair bit. You use them by setting functions to them and pressing the softkeys with your pen on the tablet. If you have 16 softkeys, you basically have 16 more expresskeys. However, that turned out to be quite a naive way of thinking.

In reality, the softkeys are very hard to use and actually slowed down my workflow a fair bit.

There are two main reasons why softkeys are not as good as they might seem:

1) You must look down to use them. No matter how practiced you are at using them, they are hard to hit without looking down. There are no indicators on the screen for them, so looking down to press them is the only option you have.

2) You have to memorize which number is what function. Of course this is a much lesser problem than the first, but is still a problem nonetheless. Memorizing 16 different functions does not seem plausible for the average person, and even if you memorize them, you still have to look down from the screen every time you want to use them.

The idea of the tablet doubling as a carry around memory stick is interesting, but it is not useful for most people.

The only situation where it could be useful is when you frequently move your tablet between two different computers, and being able to save your art files on the tablet you are moving should be quite convenient for moving files between computers.

Aside from that situation, this feature will most likely be useless for you. However, I have no complaints about having this feature as this tablet is still very cheap for the quality you are getting.

Anywho, the pen has a very straight shape with no bulges or tapers to catch your fingers. However, this is made up for by the hard rubber grip which has a few grooves cut into it to allow for a decent hold.

The pen stand itself is super light and made completely of plastic. Since the base is also made of plastic, it has absolutely no grip and slides around really easily. In all honesty, I think you may be better off just not using the pen stand.

This tablet comes with a pen cap so you can put the pen in your bag without accidentally turning it on and wasting battery life. The pen does turn itself off automatically after 5 minutes of inactivity, but it turns on very easily with slight pen pressure.

For the Pen Setting section, you can set the pen buttons to basically anything except double click. When you click the Keyboard Key function, it brings up a window with every keyboard key I can think of, so it is completely customizable.

You can also move the pen pressure curve to be softer or firmer. I found the middle to be the best for me.

The Advanced Setting button brings up another window for setting all your expresskey and softkey functions. It also decides the ratio of the tablet that maps to the screen. I suggest using the Screen Ratio button to get the proper horizontal and vertical motions on your screen.

The expresskeys and softkeys are completely configurable to keyboard keys, but you cannot map anything else to them. So no mouse clicks or switch screen functions are available for the expresskeys and softkeys.
