Hi all,

Some of you have probably noted that the OVN wiki is down.

For those of you who are new or haven't heard of it, the OVN wiki is a place where we have captured or documented the Sensorica experience and some have generalized this experience to make it usable to other networks and communities around the world. The OVN wiki is the main repository of information about the OVN (open value network) model. Many of our documents link to the OVN wiki for references, definitions, more in-depth information, etc.

I have a saved copy of the OVN wiki and some time ago I asked if someone in the community would take the task to reinstall it with our new web host. Jeff (in C.C.) offered his help, thank you Jeff. We didn't finish the task because the new host doesn't allow shared admin user accounts and we hesitated to figure out a way to share credentials to very sensitive network services.

The OVN wiki is very important not just for us, but also for everyone else who wants to read more and learn about the OVN model. So how can we move forward?

David, also in C.C. has helped with infrastructure development in the past. He would be available to do some focused work on infrastructure development, but in order to sustain the focus I suppose that he wound need to be able to shift his attention from other things that pay his bills. I wonder if we can put in place some mechanisms to co-fund these type of things. We have a Paypal account that we can use to essentially crowdfund clear, concrete infrastructure development / maintenance tasks.

Do you use Sensorica's work, ideas, model? Do you think it's worth contributing to maintaining this network?

Based on the echo, we can put a process in place within days.

• Payment methods + Custodian agreement
• Methodology to define and prioritize infrastructure maintenance and development tasks, 
• Methodology of execution of tasks, NRP logging, redistribution of shared funds based on peer-reviewed contributions

Hi Patrick,

Definitely, I can hold space for an online gathering on this topic. Since this is a general interest topic I think it is difficult to get everyone on the same schedule... A live meeting would be highly exclusive. A mix between synchronous and asynchronous is more inclusive and thus more appropriate. So here's what I propose. - Anyone feel free to co-create this process!

• Use this thread to exchange ideas, build shared understanding and consensus, and gather momentum.
  
• Use Discord, the ovn-infrastructure channel for more fluid exchanges.
• Let's wait to see who's in it and at some point the group of doors might decide to coordinate live.
  

To get our brain juices flowing, we can start by searching and sharing examples of such things, how do other open communication and networks deal with it?

Yes, thanks for these suggestions Patrick.

• Set up a Sensorica account on Patreon and link to content produced by Sensorica affiliates on YouTube, Medium, etc. In other words, provide a way for Sensoricans to produce content that could be linked back to Sensorica to attract donations from whatever audience that activity attracts. 

That's a great proposition, only if other sensoricans would produce content :) I hope more will, in the future.

• Put donation buttons in strategic locations throughout the Sensorica website for users of Sensorica resources; create new content that highlights the value of these resources to encourage donation, link to current campaigns that explain how funds will be used (landing page mentioned below?). 

 I'll implement this... I had some issues with Sensorica's Paypal account, should be back to normal now.

• Have all donations received stored in a transparent accounting system (CoBudget or other) and make investment decisions democratically-governed - see https://handbook.enspiral.com/money/financial_transparency for more ideas.

The NRP can handle that... Duplicating tools will only lead to more confusion.

 

• Have a central landing page on Sensorica platform that explains our fundraising strategy, allows people to weigh in, discuss funding priorities, monitor progress toward discrete fundraising goals, highlight progress on previously funded projects, etc.

Good suggestion. We had something like that on the old website, I'll implement it again, soon. If someone else wants to work on it, even better !!
