I want to clear up some fake news that I spread in last week's email... I thought our riders had to be registered for the races by Aug 5th to receive a personalized race number plate. With that deadline looming, I rushed to have everyone fill out our Google form letting us know what your race plans were. Turns out I was mistaken and we don't have to register our riders till later on, so I'm moving the date to complete the Google form to Aug 24. The process will be the same, once you fill out the Google form, we'll send you back a checkout code (if you're racing all 5 races) so you can go to the CCN and register your rider(s). The good news about this fake news is that you now have 3 extra weeks to fall in love with your bike and decide to race it!
In other, actual, and very real news: On June 26th after practice at 50yr trail, I asked one of our new riders, Gavin Cook, how he was liking mountain biking with us so far. He replied "This is the best sport ever!!!!". Another new to us rider, Tanner Neasham who has a BMX background, was reported as saying something very similar but used the word "Rad!"
All jokes aside, our practices have been going very well, most riders arriving prepared to ride. On Tuesday's practice, our A group did 19-20 miles, B1, B2 and B3 were in the 17-19 range, B4 was around 17 (couldn't confirm that one 100%). Thursday the C1 group did 16-17 miles which is AMAZING! I don't have the numbers on C2, but our C3/C4 combo was up in the 10-11 mile range too which is a huge testament to the hard work they are all putting in.
Those big numbers mean we need to make sure the riders are taking care of the maintenance on their bikes. If you haven't checked or added sealant to your tubeless tires, it's definitely time.
Let's ride!
